If Ashes of Creation pulls off what they are planning I’m going to go ham on this game.
Hoping they can accomplish their goals and keep developing this thing to where they want it.

  1. Damn, seems like a crazy and fun idea. Hopefully it works out as it sounds like it'd be fun to watch. Though i'd be worried for smaller groups just having the server taken over and leaving depending on what the size of the server's will be and being unable to do anything. After all if the entire server just turns into one guild pretty much what's the point of a spy part of it if there's no one to spy against.

  2. Ex Goonswarm here, I see that you've got those who weren't around for EVE :p. Not to knock on the enthusiasm but I don't see it ever happening, we (who played it then) should know why the most ;]. For what it's worth, looking forward to enjoying this with you lot

  3. I’m hoping to main ashes and everything they show seems amazing in theory, so hopefully it works out when in players hands. Your guild sounds like one I would like to be in but also guilds of this size seem problematic for server life, to where it becomes just a pve game

  4. I hate games with small guilds, just let people do what they want. Being part of a big guild allows for people to join and still play "solo" if they want. In a big guild there is always something going on, people are going out looking for fights, doing trade runs, dungeons, treasure hunting, fishing, events, world bosses, spontaneous battles with rivals, etc. You can just join whatever you want when you want or not. There's no pressure for you to be somewhere because the guild is big enough, the arbitrary caps to guilds ALWAYS kill sandbox mmos imo.

  5. This all sounds fun, but if youre constantly on the losing side (for whatever reasons, e.g. chosen a weaker guild). I fear this will end up like WoW PVP Servers. 99% Horde and 1% Alliance. I know its a bit more complex than that, but the thing is, you wont have fun if you never win. I wonder how the devs will regulate this, so it doesnt turn out this way, but thats the main reason I am not considering to buy this game right now.

  6. What if you overly centralize a guild structure? Consider a scenario where in one game, a guild is an expansive entity with a vast player cap. However, in Ashes of Creation, a guild operates more like a confederation of smaller guilds. In this context, a nationwide guild would function as a coalition composed of multiple smaller guilds.

  7. Thor you might be European. you should promote the European citizens imitative to stop killing games. Accursed films already did a video about it, same goes for anyone seeing this comment please look into it

  8. He makes a good point, why limit guild sizes in any MMO? If they make guilds have like a soft cap (perhaps some minor penalties for MASSIVE groups, like upwards of 10000 players, and just scale it) I don't see there being any issues.

  9. Love this, please talk more AoC as you learn / play it. I will 100% be on the Pirate server even if I don't play in the guild. Community drive like this is what actually makes mmos fun. Thank you Thor!

  10. As someone that's always been super keen on crafting, I'm very keen for AoC. Don't get me wrong I've loved playing combat in games, but I fully anticipate spending a lot of time relaxing but putting work into developing and creating sick gear at the highest level (assuming that's still going to be a doable way of getting top tier stuff)

  11. no no no no no no no, as an Arena player, if me and my buddy can kick you and your buddies ass the town is OURS, having 5000000000 players with you is LAAAAME. The game better focus on small scale combat and good dueling or its trash on release. its about me slicing through you the same way I do in WOW, I'm going to destroy you and make pvp miserable the SAME exact way I do in WOW every time you try and quit its cause I beat your ass. Ill be in Ashes making sure the same thing happens.

  12. I wanna be part of your guild, for sure you are a smart leader, and considering in this game you will need a lot of good decision making to stand up in a ONE REALM server, i think your idea is great. Hopefully you will allow your twitch and yt followers to join 😀

  13. I love it. I am willing to play this game with organizations like yours in play. I am not a pvp person. For some reason I could never get the proficiencies to be good. Twitch based FPS I am decent but mmorpgs I am a horrid player. I prefer to be a craft/farmer player.

  14. Here i thought I was gonna log in on day 1 of launch. Create my Guild in Ashes of Creation, and Rise to the top. This MFer made his entire guild, a system for the guild, government for the guild, and players for his guild years before release. I humbly tap out.

  15. I disagree with the increase in guild sizes for the same reasons a lot of others disagree in the comments. Also imo as soon as devs start catering towards streamers/content creators the game will spiral towards the garbage can and I think mostly streamers will have these huge amount of people wanting to be in their guild and to take over whole servers with their numbers ruining the server influence of "normal" players/guilds or just simply devouring them. I love to see that Thor is so enthusiastic about AOC but I think his suggestion about guild sizes is over the top and will cause harm to the game if implemented.

  16. there are already a few things i am worried about with ashes, but if mega guilds become a thing i am definitely just going to pass on it, massive zergs just ruin the fun for me.
