Ashes of Creation – NDA Drop Day 1 Testing (Full Show)

Read more about Ashes of Creation ➜ https://ashesofcreation.mgn.tv

Here is a mostly complete copy of my day 1 testing show. I’ve chopped out some of the crashes due to GPU overheating issues. I’ve also included some specific timestamps to take you past the opening of the show.

I will be doing a cut up show of my takes, experiences, some bugs etc after the testing weekend is over.

  1. Pleasantly surprised that not much hate came out of this even from asmons community. Started playing FF14 to hold myself off till the game drops…although that new reaper class might make me divide up my game time 😅

  2. Im incredibly impressed with the state of the Alpha. Excited to see what they consider optimized, the high standards given to this game are shining through at this stage.

  3. I'm two hours in here, and I feel like this was mentioned in passing once, in no detail–when you attack with your basic combo, it looks as if your player character is locked into a foward-motion animation. It looks like the mob you're attacking has collision, which is why you stay positioned 'correctly,' but when the mob dies if you're in the middle of your combo, you then step forward with the animation. Is that right? I find this to be a big problem. Giving the player complete and total control over their character's positioning (barring movement impairing effects) is a crucial thing in game design for me. I think it will be severely annoying to constantly be locked into animations that move my character in ways I do not want, during combat. Swinging the camera around, trying to backpeddle when my basic-attack combo slips me past a mob… fighting two mobs and stepping through one when it dies, as opposed to being able to quickly respond to the second mob with new positioning; having to finish out a combo animation in some oddball direction, not good. Not good not good. Have I misapprehended this, or are there any plans for the Ashes devs to potentially re-evaluate this? Thanks m8, sorry if you address this in the video somewhere I've just been watching for 2 hours and the question is killing me

  4. I'm glad the NDA is finally over. I hope Intrepid is able to deliver the game sooner rather than later because companies Ashes copies will start to get developed soon, and many of those companies already have decent engines ready to be used.
