I would love to see the store open back up just prior to release. An AoC soundtrack, full sized map, mug, or tumbler would sell. But large items such as custom raids or even statues for money, anything in-game, would be a no for me.
First sentence i have lot of money give me something to make me feel superior to everyone else cause i deserve it unlike those peasant beneath me, thats what i heard as a question
As much as I don't want to underestimate the money that comes from whales in an MMORPG, I'm pretty sure AoC can be sustainable just from the monthly subs and occasional cosmetic store purchases.
Steven even said in the discord that he's expecting a $23/month ARPPU for AoC, which definitely suggests that he is not primarily targeting high-spending players.
If they started putting content, mechanics, or anything that gives you an edge behind a paywall. Even if it’s just early access stuff. The whole project would go under and they’d lose any sort of credibility with their community. AoC was always meant to provide a level playing field to everyone, it was Steven's main motivator when he started the project and it still remains one of their core marketing pieces.
No offense, but suggesting they lock “niche” content behind a paywall or sell anything other than cosmetics speaks about your lack of knowledge of the project. Not that's bad, but this video doesn't need Steven's answer, anyone from the core community can answer you.
You can pay for the monthly sub, the cosmetics and merch. There won't be anything else.
Your super high end gaming PC is the edge you have over not so well set people, keep everything cosmetic. The worse they should offer is some exp boosts 6-12 months after a server has opened and settled
