  1. Yup, nailed it when you started talking about Steven grabbing a heavier bat so that Intrepid can basically continue leveling up. He won't have any problems finding that person.

  2. Have been away for a while. Anyway, I think that your explanation made a lot of sense. It seems like he hired the right guy for the moment and the next person can get in there in time to take it all to the next level. Am I an optimist? Hell yes.

  3. Seems like he got a great offer for something he is interested in. Tough loss for this project but, kudos for him for following his passion. (Which is VR)

  4. Thanks for all Jeffrey and from here we all wish him the best. God blessed us to have met him, AoC will always have the open doors for our dear bard 😇

  5. 100% agreed! experience is that hair comb that comes when you are bold! and i really beleive that the experience and the sense that guided steven to hired Jeff as the best person for the job at that moment, wil be guiding his choice for this AoC time gap.
Having said this, another content creator express a concern i share, about jeff being essentially and old school MMORPG experienced person. wich is awsome i do believe old school MMORPG was the golden age of the genre, but the truth is that player base for an mmorpg has change and any new mmorpg must keep up with the current player base mindset and all in all i think this could be that thing wich will make AOC that much better and ensures his long life and prosperity.

  6. Agreed Jeff is following his dream and there's always people that fill that seat. The siege video shows that things are going good with gameplay and server capability.

  7. I cant wait to see what Jeff does over at skydance personally. The VR space is growing so fast and its just gonna keep going. As much as he will be missed from the intrepid team theres pretty much no better reason to leave than to pursue his passion with VR

  8. Jeffrey Bard always looked like a great guy to have in a team. I hope whoever is hired to replace his position is passionate about saving the MMORPG genre, and perhaps is also a cool person!

  9. It will be a long fight, but as Rocky Balboa said
"Neither you, nor me, nor anyone else hits harder than life, but it doesn't matter how hard you hit, but how hard they can hit you. And you hold it on the go. You have to endure without stopping to advance, that's how you win"

He has the spirit, that's why so many support and trust him , but , that's not enough, he should hang out with people with that passion. I hope Jeff's next replacement has that passion and can support him like the entire Intrepit team has been doing.

  10. Personally I am concerned with any replacement.
Any one of that position/level would expect autonomy.
That will make two creative directors.
One that has been there seen it done it, bought in for experience, would bring all of the baggage of the old MMO gendre and do things the same way.

I would not be surprised to see the game being pulled in multiple direction and a rather less than harmonious atmosphere in the team as a result of tensions and conflict.
That would have a knock on effect on the whole team.
When stuff like that starts happening the whole team can start to fall apart and the game go to crap.
If Steven tried to reign them in, so as to keep to his vision, that too would create bad blood.

Its the 'no one can serve two masters' problem.
Which obviously isnt a problem if everyone shares the same vision and remains on the same page.

  11. You do not abandon a project you believe to be successful, especially if you are "game lead design". Apparently Jeff had serious doubts… Maybe Intrepid has some internal problems that we don't know about. I hope Margaret will be next.
