Welcome to the first real meaty Ashes of Creation Update of 2022. Yesterday 28 Jan 2022 Intrepid Studios did their official livestream, and it did not disappoint. They managed to showcase off the new character art, and it looks amazing. The Vek looked creepy and alien-like, they made some adjustments to the Dunir Dwarves so they aren’t so small and skinny. Overall it was a good showcase. Plus there were some good questions and answers, and some other good little nuggets of information. If you want to totally nerd out, I’ve left you a link to the official livestream. Otherwise, I think I hit most of the highlights.

As always, thank you!
good summary, very good video over all 🙂
Thanks for the summery, very helpful.
I appreciate the summary as always. As someone who can't tune in to the livestreams this is a lifesaver.
My questions after watching this is do we know how a node gets corruption? Is this linked to player corruption and are there ways to counteract this? If this can be counteracted by religious activities would we see some religious nodes have more corrupted players hanging around/living there so they can have their bad actions counteracted by the node's normal activities?
Thank you! Well explained and clarified 👏👍
One of the reasons I watch your content and spread your videos everywhere is none of your content is click bait! Thank you for all the information and hope this gets out to everyone!!
wow, talk about low quality assets from the stream. Your update versions doesn't do them proper justice. Quality info though as always.
Very well done, simple, short and to the point! appreciate it! Keep it up!
as of the moment, nothing really concerns me more than the leveling experience, sorry this is out of topic, but i just would like to share it anyway,
I'm really interested into knowing what is leveling experience is like, will it be something complex or fairly easy, to my experience i've never experienced a good leveling system since a decade, as i remember, players and me used to easily recognize the highest level player in server, not because he have a special aura or sth, but just by the name of his character, nowadays, leveling has been nerfed and smashed to the ground that no one really cares about it and i never noticed Steven has been asked this kind of question.
in addition, including Wow, the leveling has been nerfed as well and it sucks,
PvP and BA games actually they have a good leveling system to a certain extent, you keep grinding hardcore in order to reach the highest level in a certain season, but as you know it only shows to other people how good you are in the game,
to conclude FF14 to me personally has the best leveling experience compared to other existting mmo's, you do spend a fair amount of time as a new player but most of the time you don't really feel it and you don't care, to second BDO is also cool, but i dislike the fact that they have unlimited level cap, if they made it as exteremly hardcore to reach lvl 65 with a certain reward, that would be cool,
so i really hope that AOC will have a good leveling experience and i would suggest if they make it progressively hard plus extremely hard to reach the highest level,
It might be too early to talk about this but i really hope you get the chance to make a video about this topic,
As always top notch, quick info. Thanks.
Side note, I really like the AoC logo in the thumbnail corner.
Suggestion, assign content type to each colour, eg. Red=Twitch show storage, Golden=Intrepid News/Updates, Green=Discussion Topics.
Great as always mate
Good info. Thanks.
Really excited for Alpha 2! see ya there bud
I'm hoping they eventually do humanoid races like turtle people or minotaurs.
What I really like about the concept of node destruction instead of a simple one tier de-leveling is that the leadership in an alliance have to honestly assess themselves. Do they actually have the organization and activity to handle the maintenance requirements of a tier 6 Metropolis node. If they shoot for the moon and work well above their natural ability to briefly achieve Metro status, they may soon regret doing so in the coming months when they can't handle the maintenance cost and their node is destroyed completely due to maintenance default. Their city mayor probably could have shown their wisdom by instead choosing to keep the node as a Tier 5 "City" since they knew the collective activity of their alliance and random non-guilded citizens could handle the considerably lesser maintenance of a City vs a Metropolis.
For this reason I think Ashes needs to add in the option for a mayor to choose to not allow their node to advance. Have you heard of them mentioning an option like that yet? Seems like a smart option, it would also allow for a single very large guild to dominate a node area and get it to tier 2 and then choose to keep it at tier 2 since they know they are only one guild, not an alliance, and if the node got any larger they would have to finally agree to making an alliance which they may prefer to stay small but fully in control. Understood a guild is not intended to control a node, Castles were made for Guilds to control and a Node is a collection of experience gained from every player in the sphere of influence and everyone in the guild or not in the guild can sign up to be a citizen and run for mayor, but that doesn't mean a very large guild can't take on that challenge of dominating that node's sphere and effectively control the entire node, despite being just one guild. But without that option to choose to stop a node's progression, that guild could lose control of the Node, so many outsiders could arrive and ramp it up to tier 4 and then that guild can no longer strong-arm the population sufficiently enough.
