  1. Usually I agree with narc but holy hell he has some bad takes here. Open world pvp will destroy this game. I personally was super hyped for aoc but as soon as I found out that it was gonna be heavily pvp focused Iost all interest and I know I'm not the only one that feels this way.

  2. PVP only MMORPGS just don't get enough audience (despite what PVPers believe), and any PVErs that would play, will get run off. And making it hard to level solo is going to hurt even more. And here's the real problem, people who are minding their own business can get killed by multiple different people, there' still nothing stopping that. If someone doesn't care about the debuff, then some person minding their own business is gonna get ganked.

  3. The only MMO I really played "seriously" for a while ironically was also an "AoC" – Age of Conan. And I remember the horrible PvP-garbage happening on RP-Servers all the time…no matter what will be going on with 2ashes" – I see it already fail if PvP is such a high priority for the game. It will die, or adapt and change to stay relevant and save player exodus..

  4. What a stupid take, he thinks people are making a game to exclude 90% of mmo players???? WFT So the are just throwing money away to make a game to sell to 10% of gamers? Does he understand the first M in MMO is Massively? No Game is for everyone.

  5. The only thing that worries me about a corruption/bounty mechanic is hardcore griefers setting up an alt guild where they just PK their alt guild corrupted buddies to clear flags.

  6. World of Warcraft didn't get created because UO or EQ sucked, it was created because they could see how much money they could create.

People created games after WoW because WoW sucks.

  7. In everquest the necromancer class was designed for solo play in mind. These people don't know what they are talking about solo play has been a design from the start. Go play everquest the 1990's version and it will tell you in the necromancer description.

  8. Oh i get it, the guy that asmon is reviewing is one of those fat neckbeards that likes to gank lowbies because he cant pvp ppl his own level/gear… maybe he should keep crying about it

  9. On BDO there are several ways to go around the karma system, not only "clever" tricks but also in-game designed systems for exactly that purpose (guild/clan war declarations which complete negate any penalty).

  10. Yea what i see as a more obvious issue is a couple massive guilds just taking over and being solo or in a small guild a gank fest where you can't play. Similar to what happens on alot of wow servers where they are 98 percent horde for example.

  11. Okay, so we're working to design a complex system to make it so that walking up and randomly ganking people isn't worth doing… And it's gonna take a lot of time to tweak and perfect, and if it isn't right it ruins the game… why is the option to walk up and kill anyone anywhere an option in the first place?

  12. Implementation of an option to do PVE solo/ group grind, I think it’s a niche, it’s a must, this is a collective fulfillment for most eventually, it potentially will save this genre.

  13. Well, for me, I've never enjoyed pvp. I work from dawn to dusk, and have maybe three hours to play, during the week, if I don't want to watch a movie. I'm not much into crafting, but I do enjoy doing quests and leveling. I was off work today and spent all day doing dungeons and quests, and if I was on a heavy server with pvp I wouldn't have got shit done. I very much agree with you, Asmongold, and hope you keep up the good work of telling people to fuck right off.

  14. I just enjoy people saying that they don't mind if the game fails aslong as it does x or y. Its easy to have that view point when you're not the one with money and literal years of your life dedicated to making it lol

  15. Always-on PvP is complete garbage.
I am a PvE gamer myself and am all for PvP for those who want to play that – IF it is on a toggle.
It it's not, a few PvP pros on Demigod level will run around killing everyone left, right and center – and we, the killed, have no way to play the game itself. Therefore we leave to play something else, especially if we are, like me, people who work for their livelihood and have limited time to play games.
That's what New World is doing so well for example. It's fun for me to hear musketshots and look around, interrupting my current gameplay experience, to watch a few PvP players killing each other – and when they're done return to whatever I was doing, unbothered by the whole thing.
Toggle, that's the way to do this. Then everyone will have the gameplay they want and it's all right.

  16. Like you never played with PK systems before. In Cabal you could even kill in cities. Remember when we enter with whole guild to city and were just killing everyone who was there, no Ah, no merchants for them or depo. Same with best farming spots. It wasn't good experience for them. And ofc we were going to jail for that but so what? In Archage you could kill everyone too, dunno how now but I started to play and ended with first not protecting zone. Cuz max lvl was farming me when I was just doing solo my quests. Also I like playing solo with pół around and think about solo build and even soloing dungeons not they making me to make party with stupid random who wipe on circle on ground 90times. That's why I don't raid anymore in wow xD

  17. It has been many years since it was a viable game, but Aion was awesome to begin with. It started as a normal monthly pay game. It is now free to play and trash, but initially it was very fun and realistic. The only PVP was a middle ground at a certain level and quest progression. Except for on singular quest. If you had a leveled char and knew about it you could take advantage of it and PVP in lower level zones. But zone calls, cries for help, would bring high level characters to stomp us. it was so much fun. but it was compromised when people asked for help.

  18. hopefully these videos don't give ashes bad pr, because asmon has very little understanding of the concepts and mechanics in ashes of creation. Sadly narc is also not a great form of information when it comes to these far stretching changes like pve servers, my advice is to watch the video going over the 100 reasons why it would be a ridiculous amount of effort. For something that the would likely go against the creators original concepts

  19. You can be a crafter and not pvp , Albion online is a great example, we had players in our guild who only Crafted & Farmed materials. When you go in the PvP zone to gather you would wear gathering gear which gave u abilities to get away from enemy players. You could still kill the gatherer, but it would be hard, so it makes it fairer for the gatherer

  20. “Mmos these days are just single player lobbies”

goes to a server wide transmog competition before playing mini games with people in the Golden Saucer

    Sure guy.

I think it’s fine to want an mmo like this, but his condescending tone and disingenuous takes irk me. Always talks that people are on copium but sounds like he’s just coping that mmos moved past him and modernized.

  21. What if you could only attack people with similar level/ilevel? (attack as in "start the battle"). It kinda maintains the open world pvp feel but limits abuse and the unevenness problem

  22. I hope upon a hope that ashes of creation gets a pvp toggle, so i know that this male Karen will be somewhere in his hermit cave crying his eyes out and rubbing his wispy ball hair looking beard 🙂

  23. MMORPG's meant to be play in group and with a huge community, that's why it's called Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games. Still i can understand why some people are not enjoying those type of content anymore including myself. I don't have time or healthy amount of patience anymore, games also changed to become FOMO based, grind-fests thanks to fierce defence of some nolifers who cum in their pants because they feel special the amount of time they wasted compared to other peoples. People of then confuse between wasted-grinds and meaningful one. If you need to waste your days for getting ready to a dungeon (consumables, rep etc.) that's a waste, i'm not against hard content which requires months to clear because you actually challenging yourself and get better of you. Still PvP is a different kind of beast especially as "community content" i don't want to be a fckboy because i didn't choose some mega-streamers faction, my worst grind was the Grand Marshal at WoW in a server %5-10 alliance player on it. Fck that really.

  24. I feel like a good compromise to the pvp situation would be to also add a “pvp cap” to zones. Take hellfire peninsula for example, the level range there is about 60-63, right? That means that the players who can freely pvp there would be ppl lvl 63 and lower. If you are 64 or above then you cannot fly around and just gank random people. Same concept can be applied to every other zone. If you are a level 58 trying to get into the zone quickly, then you are still able to be targetted by whoever can pvp in that zone since it is a higher level zone and meant to be dangerous to low levels.

Sure this system might not be perfect or anything, but i think its a pretty good idea when it comes to making the ganking issue better

  25. Their main ideal of this game is risk/reward. If you dont like what the core of a certain game is built around or ‘you dont want to waste time walking’ or ‘dont wanna get killed’ just play another game, stop trying to make every game fit exactly your needs. Thats what the whole point is, everything is not for you, try it out, and if you dont like it then quit. This whole discussion is pointless. The developer is making a game that they want to make and are funding it themselves, play it or dont. People are so frustratingly spoiled trying to control everything as if theyre the ones spending years making a game just cause they prepurchased an alpha key noone forced them to purchase. Just stfu damn

  26. Something I don't understand with the corruption system, is if the idea is to disincentivize griefing by levying harsh penalties against PKers with little to no reward, what exactly is the point of having open world PvP in the first place? If there's inherently no reward for it other than getting enjoyment out of ruining someone else's experience, and there's harsh penalties to discourage doing it, why is it a thing? That just sounds like a lose-lose. Not fun for PvPers because the penalties are too harsh, and not fun for PvEers in the event that someone still utilizes the open PvP system. You might as well just get rid of the penalties and allow people to opt-in/out.
I must be missing something with the system, because on the surface it doesn't make much sense.
