Ashes of Creation is entering Alpha 2 this year. Players are excited. However if you haven’t purchased an alpha key or have been lucky enough for a giveaway from Intrepid Studios then you cant play until the official launch. So how much longer do you need to wait? I think it will be a bit…

  1. I'd like to say that your projection is way off base, but the facts seem to lean in your direction. My current thought is 2 years minimum in A2 and 3 would not surprise me. However, it should be remembered that Intrepid has north of 150 people working on the game now and more than half of them have been added since A1 and a good number in just the last 6 months. All those 150 devs are not working on the elements that we have already seen. SS is smart enough to not reveal all of the game at this stage. It is clear from his and Margaret's remarks in the livestreams that the schedule of updates is planned months out and are not a product of recent progress. All the biomes are at some advanced stage in the pipeline. Likewise for all of the base archetypes, the other races, the Corruption system, and every other mechanic that has been announced for A2 start. Some of the things that appear to be still mostly on paper are: the naval combat system (as you mentioned), the Underrealm, and the secondary Archetype implementation. Yes, there is a lot of game left to work on, but much more is done than people on the outside know.
