Nodes is perhaps the most important and intriguing system of MMO Ashes Of Creation. Most only talk about the greatness and benefits of nodes, but I seldom see the downside or rather negatives that a node system brings (welcomed ones). I like that this system will lock players out of specific content and maybe story archs which will then cause strife and encourage strategic node sieges.

  1. Like everyone else, I've got a concept in my head of what playing Nodes will be. Not once in the last 24 years or so for me has that concept turned out to be even remotely close to 100% correct. Even so, I'm enjoying the development journey. BTW, this is an algorithm satiating comment sponsored by RitchieSH.

  2. I hope it's more complicated than "raise this node, get this content," otherwise we'll just get a node meta, and the servers will become "samey" as the guilds chase that meta.

Imagine if they're wrong about what triggered the content?

What if you raze one node to raise another to trigger some content, but you don't get the expected content.

    Thanks.

  3. There are so few games, especially mmo's, that let players actually affect the world around them.
If they can deliver on this, it will be amazing.
I understand this aspect wont be everyone's cup of tea, but that's ok.
It definitely has endless possibilities beyond just taking a keep, or flipping a flag.
    My mouth is literally watering…

  4. I'm a little worried about how much you will have to sacrifice yourself. Like if you invested into living at a metropolis but then it turns out the city next to you has what you want. You need to make it a metropolis instead of yours.
