  2. Your right about resource>cool down. In street fighter 6 you get 6 bars of drive, and for enhanced abilities you spend 2 bars, and you spend 1-3 bars on universal abilities. Its super dynamic and feels great to use. Cooldowns were tried once in an indie start up called rising thunder and it just didn't resonate with people. Some of my favorite abilities have no cooldown, but spend a special stock that you need to spend time building before hand.

  3. TLDR: Narc UI > Pre Alpha 2 Showcase UI

Always hated my UI being taken over by unedited vehicle UIs and cba to design one, if given the chance, without the opportunity to practice using it until you’re sat in it and it’s too late!

  4. For the caravan it should replace the drivers hp unless you take damage separately. As for damage taken it should be visually apparent. Also throw out tab targeting so you can target wheels to disable the cart until it gets replaced.

  5. i think the "aura" effect you drew could be overlooked easily depending on the environment. like tall grass for example. especially with all the swaying in the wind and stuff.
in general i think making it a physical, grounded in the world type barrier would be the best approach. like a zone defended by watch towers or in general a guarded zone giving the players the IDEA of being in a safe zone without the need for a visual indicator.

your UI on the other hand is a really great idea, having the information advantage of knowing which parts are damaged might lead to a more tactical gameplay.
depending on what caravan skills will be available you could even work on the fly repairs into it for the cost of making other parts more vulnerable for example.

I never liked the concept of cooldowns. even logically it doesnt make sense. cast time on the other hand is an idea i can get behind.
take a wizard for example. it doesnt make sense why "magic missle" would have a cooldown. the indicator of exhaustion is mana already.
as long as i have sufficiant mana i should be able to cast any spell i have in my repertoire.
now, summoning a meteor obviously would be more strainous than conjuring a small fireball.
therefore in addition to needing more mana to cast it having to concentrate for a while to form it makes sense too.

  6. The idea of resource management for the caravan does sound interesting. Do i use the speed buff as often as possible to optimize total travel time, or save all resources for an possible ambush.

  7. Why not just have a permanent ratchet ass fence that surrounds the deployable zone. It is always there and it is the boundary for the caravan deployment. Literally just a shitty fence.

  8. If only there were no FOMO pre pruchase cosmetics. Every cosmetic in the game should be tied to either grinding or an achivement that needs skill.
I so hate the fact that regular subscribers are locked out from hundreds of cosmetic items. And I bet there will be more after release. I just dont understand why.
If the game is good a LOT of players will pay subs even 20 bucks a month and there should not be any need for paywalled cosmetics.
Its not gonna stop me from playing the game but it leaves an immensely bitter taste in the mouth.

As for the caravans, I can only suggest to make player sitting slots on the carts so escorts can jump in and just "travel" when there are no enemies nearby. Even if its like a standing spot, like a character grabbing on and standing on half leg on the side of the caravan.

  9. I'm not sure how i feel about the caravan display to everyone defending. on one hand a big thing I noticed in pvp in Archeage and other games with these kind of systems is someone in the large group is always streaming and someone else who is attacking is inevitably watching their stream, giving away strategies and locations etc. On the other hand I also feel like it is a positive thing to have all the good and relevant information available to the people who need to see it. So I guess I'm on the fence because it would be silly to expect the game to be designed around something like that. im not sure how you prevent that sort of thing in any reasonable/sustainable way other than demanding your defending party does not stream, which sure maybe, but people usually are going to do what they want to do.

  10. The caravan system is taken from Silkroad Online , not the two games you recorded in the video. Which is a great system dont get me wrong ,, specialty since they nimic it really good

  11. Feedback: It is much easier to plunder these caravans of "Ashes of Creation" than Archeage trade carts. UI size should be a little more bigger as the UI size always becomes smaller at higher resolutions.

  12. I disagree regarding the barrier. One could argue that this design looks better and fits more into the world, but at the same time, it would close the doors to adding more barriers. How would you distinguish which barrier belongs to what? This way, there is a clear indicator of what the barrier actually represents.

As for the caravan skills, I liked that. It provides an opportunity for others to play around with currently available skills without the need for voice chat.
