I got an ashes key for free, its definitely far from release. As a dev though, this is actually a good alpha. This is considered is a vertical slice alpha where every system is actually represented. The core systems, especially combat mechanics are actually done properly and more importantly. The tools done for land creation, it would actually be very simple to make many more nodes. I do think the game will actually release and if you asked me a year ago i would have said it will never release. I'm betting 4-6 years.

WOW and FF are the only MMOs worth playing and MMOs are dead. We just have to accept this fact. No one under the age of 30 wants to play MMOs unfortunately. Say what ? Sorry but he can not accept that certain things we like or love are BAD. I love Energy Drinks but they are bad and i know it. Most importantly i do not deny it. I like him but his hubris and inability to accept that certain takes of his are bad annoy me sometimes.

Both AoC and Pantheon scream potential scam to me. The promise of what AoC claims to deliver sounds good, but due to the slow nature of the dev cycle I doubt that they will deliver. As for Pantheon the game looks like ass and has been in dev for like 10 years. Pantheon will be more my style should it prove to be a legit game. Sure they have an early access now but it still screams scam to me. How do you have 10 years of development and be at least 2 years from release?

Devs could had easily make the alpha f2p & release mounts, skins & many other pixel stuffs to can pay them over-expensive trash servers which always they use as an excuse.
Asmon is waaaaay more lenient with AoC than he is with any other game. He could say he’s just trying to be fair, but how is it fair when he has dunked on other games for less while being okay with AoC in its current state?
The thing that turned me off most about the game is the fact that they're charging people 100+ just for an alpha. Look I understand a game needs to be funded but Jesus Christ.

What WOULD you put on a desert? it's a common issue for anyone who ever attempted to make a game. Deserts and similar places are usually meant to be desolate and empty. I think a town is a good enough start, but you can't just put 20 towns next to each other on a desert. I don't know much about the game, but I wouldn't expect them to fill up empty space that is supposed to be empty space. It's a good point you made about the full map, they should hire more people.
