  1. It's also super weird that if you defend yourself against someone attacking you, it flags you and makes it so everybody can then pile on you without consequence, even if you only wanted to get away by dropping a CC on the attacker. In Ultima Online, if someone attacked a blue (innocent), they went grey (criminal). The blue could then either run or fight back, while staying blue (other people couldnt join in to beat on him, they could only attack the grey/offender without consequence). Feels like the current system is rife with exploit potential, but they have a few years to iron it out at least.

  2. I disagree with you. It's a strategy for healers to hold their flag as long as they can in a party v party flagged fight. It may even be advantageous to let a heavy die and wait until dps start dropping to flag. Or maybe even wait to flag until you rez.
Solution 1: don't use aoe heals.
Solution 2: Change "aoe" healing skills to only affect those in your party or raid. Not everyone at random in a cone in front of you.
Solution 3: create a force heals (like holding control and a skill button simultaneously) to heal a combatant with damage inflicted on you. This would verify your bad decision making. Sort of like healing an npc mob someone is trying to fight. This would be trolly but it's another option.. (ask Steven, he knows all about this one from lineage 2😂)

  3. I agree, accidently healing flagging is an issue. While manually flagging up to heal a combatant is an option, another would be to still allow healing within your party, and flag automatically if your ally becomes flagged and then you heal them. Since you have already taken an active step by being in said party. But anybody outside of your party who is flagged, should require a manual change as you suggest. Either way, it needs to be an active decision on your part, and not an accident.

  4. We used to abuse this in Ultima, My red pal would attack folks and I would heal him..I would go grey to those he was attacking, so if they attacked me it was free kill for me. I will ABUSE THIS TO NO END IF THEY LET ME!!!!!!

  5. The simplest solution is one no one wants. Until you flag you can't be PvP damaged or heal/buff others even in a group.
Then there is no "human shields of corruption", no "accidentally flagging" by kind action. Etc.
    OR
the simplest solution is one no one wants. Everyone is PvP, everywhere, at all times. And Gankers have free reign.

Neither of these work for me.

What you suggest punishes people who are just trying to be nice, usually people who are avoiding PvP, by making them "flag to be nice".
That certainly will lead to smaller populations in some crafting circles and possibly the servers in general.
It also makes the game more "clinical" in nature by removing this overt kindness.
However, I do agree your proposed change does what you want with those who currently exploit.
My real question then becomes this:
How often do either case Actually happen?

I have seen people healing others as they pass by all the time, but only once saw the case that GrapplRr experienced.
"Throwing out the baby with the bathwater" comes to mind.

  6. Ashes of creation's only major flaw is charging 100+ dollars to participate in a LIMITED TEST. Fucking rediculously greedy. You don't even get an equivalent game time or anything when the game comes out. Just 100 for a 10th of the full game content and 1 month game time at release. Fucking ridiculous

  7. Are we sure it was an AoE heal? If we look at the target of target window, the dude running away was targeting GrappLr and in fact when the heal is casted, GrappLr is the only one who gets some hp back. From my point of view it was a lack of attention caused by panic:

The guy tried to heal himself without realizing he was targeting GrappLr (after that he target himself) and therefore he actually responded to the attack by healing directly whoever was attacking him. That's why he was flagged as combatant @nopstr

    I see no problems here.

  8. The way the game is being developed means that it really isn't a big problem. People have to try and wrap their heads around the idea that Ashes of Creation is currently still being "designed" with the Alpha testers.

  9. Besides this heal issue which I'm aligned with is an issue, I don't think your AE heals should heal your attacker, thats super weird for a pvp game. The other issue is I don't think someone defending themselves should flag them as a combatant to anyone besides the person they are hitting if that person attacked them. I.e. a dude can't attack me, and I defend myself, and now have his friends free to attack me too. The status to them should still be that I'm innocent to all but my attacker.
