  1. So just to be clear we didn't get a date for alpha 2… We got another general time frame which historically they don't have the best track record for meeting deadlines.

  2. Alpha 2 WTF? This game is NEVER going to release. It will give Star Citizen a run for its money. An alpha is not nearly close to a release for an MMO this means there are still years of development left. This is NOT good news.

  3. Love the comments on here, if the game released next month they would bitch it wasn't finished and call it trash, the dev's are taking their time, being transparent with the development so they can get the opinions of those interested, then we get, this games taking too long, blaah blaaah, fucking snowflake zoomers these days, want a dummy and some baby food with that.

  4. I don't like Ranger's area shots animations, too similar to some hack-and-slash ARPGs, and I never enjoyed how those looked in those games. I think the animation needs more pullbacks of the bow and arrows, not flying down from heavens above like some saving on budget TV show. I would like to see more connection of character to each of the shots that are fired and not the shots being dislocated from players' experience at least in the same animation.

I never liked that games started to take away meaning from area skill attacks, as those in D2 were very significant and each had its own drawback. For example, Blizzard hit at separate places in the AoE at the time, making it possible for running enemies to chip through the AoE if not careful. The Amazon arrow AoE was a conical spread with arrows hitting only the first targets (you could get pierce to help that) and reducing the chance to hit because of the spread the further they went. It was all very purposeful and involved. I don't see that in the Ranger's skill; it's just that they land separately, but the area is mostly covered since they are adjusted to land nicely spread and at the same time. The waves are too fast to matter; I doubt anything in the game will move that fast to really chip through those 0.2-second separate drops, and it just looks like it's the most basic thing you can do, which makes you think it's not that special, and that other skills will do the same but better, which is not good for powerscaling in the game, as it makes a culture of skills that are brain dead and just do all the things, and things not mattering.

For example, why does the leap skill do a volley under it? Is it because it is good for the game, or is it because D3, D4, and other trash-tier but monetarily successful games did it? These things matter; the game is a collection of experiences; nothing is in a vacuum.

  5. wow, another 6+ months just to get to alpha 2 seems crazy when they've already done so much and the game looks as it does in the livestreams. really looking forward to seeing what they come up with and just gonna have to try to put this game out of my mind for the next few months :p

  6. If I recall correctly, the original Alpha 2 level limit was going to be 35, not 30.
City upgrades probably capped at level 4 then, I'm guessing?

Assuming that the next 9 months is getting the Alpha 2 zones polished, gameplay and content to level 30. Then from Q4 2024 onwards they only need to build:
    – levelling content from 31-50,
    – a meaningful end game!,
    – another 1.5 continents of landmass,
    – a naval system,
    – multiple metropolises for x number of races,
    – 100+ square miles of the underworld area,
    – numerous things I can't remember.

The Alpha 2 is exciting news, but his is going to be an exercise in patience while we wait…

  7. Their goal for Alpha 2 is for people to commit to the testing and feedback not play the game, and from that perspective Q3 makes the most sense as it is during a time where a lot of people, I'm assuming anyways, have the free time to play the game. I do not think they want to release the test in the middle of the school/athletic year where parents are busy with their kids, and students are done with college for the year. Non-parents and non-students will essentially have the same schedule so for them it's irrelevant. This way they can have more people committed to their test during a less busy time of year.

  8. at the end of the gameplay segment in the lower left corner was a green light for a brief moment.
i was wondering if it was a portal of some sorts or some kind of collectible like the skyshards in ESO.
or maybe just a green burning bush 😀

  9. It's nice to see an mmo where the spells are subtle but satisfying visually. Other mmos like wow look like someone shat a rainbow all over the screen. Less is more when you need to be looking at the game field.
