Ashes of Creation – Current State of My Hype!

As I continue to scramble to catch up on the library of information that’s come out for Ashes of Creation thus far, I’d like to update the status of my hype and concerns! Couldn’t have caught up without Jahlon over at Paradox Gaming, doing God’s work, super informative content: https://www.youtube.com/c/ParadoxGamingNetwork

For a quick tldr of my HYPE:
– The game looks beautiful
– Customization is absolutely top tier!
– The more I learn about the node and governance systems the more I love em
– The way that caravans and sieges interplay sounds great!

… and Concerns:
– The complexity of systems may be too much for the general audience, which will result in a niche player base (hopefully that’s still a sustainable business model)
– While the systems sound awesome and super-robust, we still don’t have a clear idea of the core game play. Even without nodes, the game needs to be fun!

  1. I think you're assuming too much from looking at this tech demo of the action combat you're seeing. Its possible the small piece in this clip you're showing is just all they decided to show us, as you said – its a small piece of something bigger. I agree, we all want to see the whole thing together – tab and action in a group dynamic with multiple mobs with AI mechanics etc. But I also believe Steven has made a hard but key decision in the last few months – only show whats polished and ready. For example, he showed only 1 race in the character creator. This is I believe another example of that – he's showing the progress of one sub-task for a larger story for a HUGE epic on his team's roadmap. OK OK thats copium induced, but what I disagree with you on specifically is that the fact that all this time has gone on and this is all we are being shown is a logical reason for any concern about what the eventual outcome will be, or what the current state actually is.
