Ashes of Creation Cosmetics – ISSUES Concerns and IMPROVEMENTS

Read more about Ashes of Creation ➜ https://ashesofcreation.mgn.tv

There are a lot of good things going on with Ashes of Creation. The switch to Unreal Engine 5 looks nice, the character creator looks great, but there has been a continuing lagging issue with the cosmetics for the last 15 months and that is the cosmetics. People continue to spend money and buy cosmetics, but they have no idea what they are buying. The answer we get in regards to the cosmetic is that the answer is coming Soon™ and yet the cosmetics switch out monthly like clockwork. Hopefully Intrepid and Steven hear this and put just a little effort into the cosmetic sales discussion to stop this from being a burning topic.

  1. Absolutely agree with what you're preaching here. I would probably have a cosmetic or two if not for the "entry" paywall. Also I feel like I'd be more inclined to buy basic pack if it had just Key and game time, and then pick some skins separately. Or if it had an option to pick a skin out of six and pay the difference.

  2. Absolutely agree! I have also been asking for Freehold info FOR YEARS It's unconscionable that this has not been fully answered by now. One would think by now they would also open up the monthly sales because we now have years worth of exclusive under the belt.

  3. Although I understand people want to support the game, but this seems to fall into the pre-orders arguments, where people complain, but keep giving money to the companies.
The best way to make them take it seriously, is just stop buying these cosmetics collectively and "make it hurt" in a way.
I'm sure if their cosmetics sales drop by like half, they will very quickly add that info.

  4. the fomo cosmetics is literally the only reason people i know dont care about ashes.
they like the concept of AoC but when they heard me say "game is years from release and they use fomo cosmetics to support its development" they just laughed and said
"why would we wanna play a game thats literally got more fomo cosmetics than most game got normal cosmetics, if i cant get the stuff i want im just not gonna play"

  5. Regarding the very high paywall, I'm one of those people, that the price asked is way too high considering the average income of my country and I don't agree with paying to test.
With that said, I would 100% buy just some cosmetics if the price is fair, there were already a few that showed up that I really liked, but couldn't buy them due to the paywall barrier.

  6. Good stuff Jahlon, thanks. They also don't really have a good answer for the other monthly cosmetic concern which is that with every month, they're putting out a set of items that really cannot ever be made again. For example, there's been a wolf pet/mount. Is it JUST that specific color/look of the wolf that is exclusive or does it mean they'll never produce wolf skins ever again? Maybe this has been answered, but I certainly haven't heard anything that plainly clarifies this. I'm personally pissed that I missed the Velociraptor mount skin, and I'm worried I won't be able to own one. But if I can catch and own one in the game, just can't have that specific color from the exclusive set, that's fine.

  7. Totally agree… I have wanted to purchase specific items from month to month but the initial cost of $375 was more than I wanted to invest up front. If that was dropped I feel the overall purchases will increase because I can't be the only one hesitating on the initial investment.

  8. TLDR: We should 100% know what cosmetics go on, and more details about them overall.
Several people I know don't buy packs because they find the price-wall or packaging distasteful.
I think the exclusivity should more align to what the goal of them are, to reward the people who have a early interest in the game. make it easier for the people who want to support you and want to have a Item that shows their "early investment in the games development".

100% we need to know what cosmetics go on what. I have stopped buying cosmetics because I have NO idea, what stuff goes on what.
I have trough out my time following ashes of creation bought several cosmetics, and some I regret buying, but I did only because I wanted the key for alpha 1.
As I wanted to help out testing the game and have a early look at how things stood.

As I got the max pack I can freely buy what ever cosmetic I want, this is fine and all. but I got several friends who either have keys but not the top pack because they don't want to test the earlier alpha stages, and only want play & test in the beta. They get annoyed because they cant buy the cosmetic pieces they want, without buying a key they don't want.
Another issue is I have other friends who don't even want to buy keys or don't want to buy cosmetics or both. because they are a "non-cosmetic" player and only want the keys, or they are a not interested in testing in alpha/beta.

some friends even call ashes a scam MMO because their prices are so steep for the keys. This is not true but I have heard several friends who learn about it talk to me about how "scam looking the monetization looks".

I understand the "exclusivity" but is the cosmetics not for the early people who have found ashes and its a "reward" for their early interest?
why would you keep is so far behind a price-wall that is this high.
