Very nice video, very well explained!
Are they assuming 500 people will actually be playing with their current combat in the game? 😂

I hope the AOC situation is a bit of an eye opener for those people running around waving the savior flag…. I feel that following a situation so closely and putting so much faith in something like this so early is jsut a recipe for disaster. People can do as they please, but for me i think im just gonna start ignoring most coverage so that i can appreciate it when it comes out with no expectation
Whitelagooncompany send me. Big Support from germany
wait, did they change the game to be pvp now??
didnt steven say that he played several mmorpg´s before and he wanted to make a good one with his experience. how can there still be something like a block status in the game. if you want to block, hold up your shield. it´s as simple as that…

I'm just not feeling this game. I think this will be a flop. Not anywhere as close to COE of course.
I don't understand why servers should be an issue. Surely there has to be pret-a-porter software for online gaming servers?
like button = smashed
What do you think of cosmetics? I feel like it will prevent people from looking at someone and saying "hey, that piece of gear looks dope.. I'll msg that guy to see where he got it"
The one thing I do like is that they're not rushing it. Steven's money and he's calling the shots. I think this will be stellar when they finally release. As I've told you before, its my last great hope for the mmo marketplace. Great vid as always.
Yeah, there are certain things that are always pretty much guaranteed to be lies in games, particularly in MMOs: "The quests and your decisions will change the game world and story blah blah blah blah." Which basically means that at best maybe in some zone a camp is guarded by orcs instead of goblins for like 2 hours or something; maybe you go to the elf chick instead of the troll dude for a questline that both basically the exact same thing, just different NPCs giving the dialogue and maybe a slightly different reward. One rare example of it actually happening, Everquest actually had an NPC The Sleeper, that could only be woken once per server, it woke up, went and slaughtered everyone in a few different zones. After that the mobs were different in that dungeon and an entire type of loot was no longer obtainable in game, at least on that server. It was pretty neat. Of course these days it would never fly because people would be like "omg why I no get that loot too, I feel attacked and unsafe!"
something tells me aoc is gonna have a problem with the after release content and blancing at the speed the community wants
From the sounds of it legendary items won’t be as rare as we all think they should be… more like the legendAries in wow the last couple of expansions
Good to keep it short. Not much there. Best regards. I trust this is not a pattern of behavior from the leadership ….
I'm really struggling to see their view on the combat. I thought originally that it was going to be 80% action and 20% tab with tab being buff debuffs and healing so you can't miss those abilities.
Where's the 2022-2023 combat mechanics? Or will it be 2000 combat but with updated graphics and animation.
Will bosses have weakspots and breakable parts? You need to aim for that. Will different guilds find different ways to defeat the boss or will it be stand still and spam abilities until it dies? And oh don't stand in the telegraphed attacks.
i want to actually read my quest details and come up with a strategy/build to kill that boss. These are the weak spots, these are the elemental weaknesses, these are the breakable parts, these are their strengths and weapons. why not something like monster hunter world where if you break that part they will no longer be able to do that attack? (break the tail so it cant do the tail swipe attack). "huh im fighting a fire dragon, maybe i should swap out my fire skills for ice skills" "im fighting a flying boss this time maybe ill use a bow and aim for their wings so they cant fly" "the dragons charging its fire breath, aim for the neck/throat to stop the attack" (dragons a good example lol)
why only a few abilities (rogue) get rear bonuses? if i get behind the enemy surely i should be rewarded from a strategy standpoint.
I also saw dwarves being playable races so how will they be balanced? How can someone play with a hitbox half the size of me. Unless ofc it's tab target.
So this is why you watch the actual stream Kira. You miss cool shit like this: https://clips.twitch.tv/FurryEsteemedKiwiBleedPurple-WKkwBpv1gDyw20jR
Haven't been this excited about a mmorpg since WoW was released.
Its almost like game like Ashes and New World cant takeaway from Black Desert combat and expand from it. Instead we get these generic 2000 combat system.
As soon as they get the combat down I'll raise my hopes for this game tenfold.
I PRAY for no repeating incrementally difficulty bullcrap like WoW with mythic+ or normal, heroic, etc. Recycled content is exhausting and NOT new content.
In a pvp environment a tab target camera is just 100% an advantage and for Intrepid not to acknowledge that is a little worrying. Combat is the biggest worry I have for AoC as the developers don't seem to have a vision they want to achieve for it.
Mark my words.. will be a BIGGER disappointment than Cyberpunk.. a classic case of trying to please all and pleasing none.. marketing BS.. alt tab + action combat hybrid almost made me piss me pants in laughter..
Obligatory looks further along than Pantheon comment
Don't really care what form or fashion, if you have ANY chance in a progression based MMO game to just drop and loose your things when killed, it instantly goes in the trash bin.
New world is going to shit on this game hard
When I see kira update I lose all hope for the game
Bro, I literally blinked and your sub count went up by 10k. Congrats man!
If they commit to not selling cosmetics or boosts I will be all in no matter the state of the game because that would tell me they understand what makes an MMO good. If there's a cosmetics store it's a pass and another archeage in the making.
The fact that the lead game designer says:
1. "we are just throwing stuff at the wall and see if it works" and also
2. "its possible that everybody hates everything weve done and then none of it goes through" Is like super confusing.
He talks about "bleeding edge" technology for their combat system but to even attempt that you have to know what has worked so far, build on that and put it on to the next level. Not to randomly prototype in the HOPES people will like it… I have very little faith in their combat-system team and their lead designer. Also when looking at what they have gotten after years of development.
Obviously, alpha is not where you’re going to see the final iteration of a game’s combat.. but with so many gameplay systems sharing interdependencies through its combat, you can understand why some people are worried about the lack of identity in the game’s combat, even during this early stage. Also, it seems that a lot of people have placed all their hopes in AOC, and are heavily emotionally invested in this development process. It feels like a desperate time for some consumers, eagerly awaiting this “ideal” MMO. I was one of these people in the past, but I’ve mellowed out a little bit. Just gotta keep our patience caps on, and wait it out!
Idk whats so hard about making animations in combat not snappy but fluid. Also they need to deal with the character movement and placement. It looks like its either floating 1 cm above ground or it's sliding on ice while in movement.
Hm wish they'd just copy WoW's tab-based skill system with side strafing kiting
If I have a group(cult) of friends(followers) doing quests and whatnot, couldn't their contributions count towards an individual who recruited them like some kinda believer of Mormon or witness of Yehova? For the divine node membership I mean, nothing irl ofc :3
Am I the only one who isn't a huge fan of some of the combat animations? Like I feel like too many animations for abilities are "flashy" or "over-the-top". There's nothing wrong with having abilities like that, but when a ton of them look like that, it makes none of them stand out and it starts to look a little goofy when someone's normal loop constantly involves them flipping and floating around.
The footage with this video looks a lot better than what I recall seeing from the game, got my interest up. Also, I'm wondering if they might take a bit of a FFXIV approach to crafter gear, as I quite like the way it's done in that game, both in having nice visuals and useful stats for crafters.
I just feel that this game is for a niche role-playing crowd, and thats perfectly ok. Im starting to realize that this mmo will not capture the immersiveness that im seeking.
I'dont like that legendaries are so crappy. I hoped for something from Lineage 2 rather WoW. Legendaries should be strong and extremely hard to get, so at the end when you have it you are something in that virutal world and you are game changer for your clan/node. What would I torture myself with grind, crafting and bosses with my entire clan for 6% of boost (6%-12%… even eso is more hardcore)? Nope, too much modern thinking in this "hardcore" mmo.
