Ashes of Creation Cleric Showcase

Read more about Ashes of Creation ➜ https://ashesofcreation.mgn.tv

Intrepid Studios did their November @AshesofCreation livestream this past Friday and it was filled with of great information. The biggest piece is that they did the Cleric Showcase, although it was less showcased that the Ranger and the Fighter. Hopefully Intrepid will consider bringing back the Archetype skills list images like we had in the past so people have some idea what the different abilities are and what they do. Intrepid also showed off group play with the Cleric, the Ranger, and the Fighter exploring an area filled with Undead Zombies and Skinriders.

There was a lot of discussion regarding group synergies and abilities synergies and combos. As well as knowing your enemy when you are grinding, plus resource management.

As a reminder as of 3 December 2022 I still have 11 Alpha 2 Keys to giveaway. I will be layout how I will be doing that in a video after the first of the year.

  1. I am torn on the slaver mechanic. If it is implemented logically and does not interrupt game-play immersion, it would be a unique aspect to the game. Also, I could see the compartmentalization aspect slow down progress in an area for players unless this is part of progression.

  2. With the slavers if ur being put in the cave to often then ur in the wrong spot for your skill level 😛 shouldnt be dieing often or you'lkl be going backward in levels 😛

  3. I hate stunlocking but I also feel like an ArcheAge-style status immunity buff feels artificial. Would rather have a 'wariness' bar like a backwards version of the GW2 breakbar, where as you receive more hard CC effects you build up wariness. As it fills up you become less likely to be affected by hard CCs or their durations get progressively reduced, but you also temporarily lose stats (a mechanical stand-in for you spending mental energy trying to avoid tripping or snares rather than carrying out other combat tasks) so landing more and more CC combos does still have an effect on you, but it isn't uncounterable stunlocking nonsense.
(The bar would slowly go down on its own so long as nothing's filling it up, and some classes might be able to purposely add or remove points from the bar.)

  4. I’d be happy if Intrepid didn’t release any information regarding spells/abilities. Discovering this during gameplay would be so much sweeter.

Sound so far has been amazing like you say the bugs and owls sound amazing especially steam notifications that tricked me whilst watching 😂.

In regards to dying to slavers, I wouldn’t want this to happen every single time I die, but randomise when it happens.

Was an awesome stream from yourself and from Intrepid. Keep it up!

  5. Loved this update, so many cool things to consider. The slavers sounds really cool but I could see it getting annoying if repeated. Pretty sure Steven said they would be in the starter area, so I think they'd need to be low level, and once you are a few levels above them, the stun doesn't work on you anymore. Just a minigame sounds…I dunno, lackluster(?). I think it would be cool if there were different options for escape based on race or class or something. A rogue type can pick the lock, but other types have to find a different solution. Maybe the scenario contains a skill or ability you achieve by figuring it out. Special hidden quests like this throughout the world at different levels would be awesome, where you can only acquire the skill or ability from the specific instance. Upper level ones could be group based, like you need a rogue and mage to unlock two doors in a wall in a dungeon, and that's where you learn that skill. That would also allow the game to not select you more than once, unless you fail. Once you have the reward you no longer get that special attack that leads to the special instance.

I love the constellations as well, so many things could be added in to incorporate those.

The combos and buffs are really cool too, though I can see if you have many skills it would become tedious.

  6. I really liked this stream. It's given me a significantly stronger idea of how gameplay will flow just in general, and I adored the structure and appearance of the location they were shooting in.

That said, the bridge within the cemetery gave me an odd thought; was that part of a road? If so, caravans may find themselves having to boost their speed to escape pursuit by overworld mobs hanging out near thoroughfares, something intelligent bandits could take advantage of.

  8. I'm usually not a healer by any means but the action combat healing felt a little clunky and unresponsive, but that may be because steven was controlling it. I do hope we get options for healers to switch to the raid-frame style healing for those that enjoy that.

  9. I like the ideas of slavers putting you in a cage. Will bring us another form of RP and as low lvl you will definitely avoid them and there is gonna be this feeling of fear if you spot them😀

  10. I really like the idea of Conviction. As a healer main I hope this will turn out well.
In World of Warcraft there is a Monk class, it was made in such a way that you could create a build that would allow you to heal through DPS, it wasn't as good as straight up healing, but it was enough to sustain the team in lesser encounters, also some mana regen boost was tied to DPS abilities, it was very fun but challenging way to play, focus on healing when needed and when you can DPS and not get shouted at for not healing at all. I'm not sure if it's still a thing though.

The slave thing, while it sounds like an interesting idea, I feel it would be funny the first time and become nuisance very quickly, just as Steven described damage from falling trees.

  11. On the surface, I love the slaver concept in this. For some reason it reminds me of pen and paper dungeons where you may be a hero in the world but the unknown forces (dungeon master) might decided to throw some mysterious thing at you. Be on your guard!

  12. I personally loved the night lighting, you felt like it was night but you could still see. Like steven said few times it is not like a survial game. My concern is how bright the light in the start of the video. I know still it is work in progress. Hopefully it will be one of the many things that we can turn down.

Side note: When I heard your name came up i got it excited. I knew it would be good question. Not another repeat question. Like the YouTube question at the start of the stream.

  13. Theory crafting basically the main thing for all MMOs. The ability for players to preplan builds will not only keep them hyped but will also induce discussion (further increasing their presence as an upcoming mmo). If you don't give players things to talk about, then no one will talk about the game. So yes. Please give us a list of the abilities and passives so we can plan accordingly

  14. I think if they want to hightlight a specific class gameplay then label it with that class. I got the feeling focus on all this was day/night cycle and then some group combat. Not saying this was a wrong video but more answering what you were asking. Make like way back specific video on for example cleric to show abilities and then link to the website where the theorycrafting can begin when we know more. I think the communities interest will grow alot more if we can get a class subgroups going. However at this stage we know too little so thats for future. I also like the scenary alot with sound. I do hope the star constellations will have important role in for example religion buffs, crafting buffs or just plain navigation or treasurehunting. Good video as always from you.

  15. The slaver thing… I can't really comment until we see more on it. But, with just the little information we have… I will say its worth the development time to see and feel how it works. On paper, my gut reaction is to say its bad. But I have enjoyed many things that my gut reaction to hearing about it was, "I probably wont enjoy this."

  16. The slaver kidnapping could be interesting depending on what it leads to. If it's just a timer then that's boring and pointless, if it leads to a quest to escape/befriend them or allows your guildmates or friends to form a rescue party or perhaps a random adventurer party finds you locked up or slaving away and they decide to rescue you and they obtain some reward. It would be interesting to see what they intend to do with it.

  17. I think spells and abilities need to have a more accentuated lean towards the class they represent. Like in WoW we could see from afar that certain character was a Warlock because of the dark purple tint of his abilities, or a Paladin with their yellowish glows, a warrior with the redish swipes etc. Also, I think the night illumination is way too bright, it should be tweaked down a little bit to allow some RP towards light spells, glow effects, torches and other types of light sources throughout the world. 😉
