  1. Great video! Thanks for your hard work. I'm excited for Ashes of Creation, but I'm worried about some systems being too exploitable, punishing, and time-gated and as a semi-casual player thereby becoming one of the players this game just isn't for. I'm hopeful because of the community engagement and developers listening to testers, but past new MMO experiences make me anxious about the game's long-term success.

  2. At first I was stressing over the lack of cooperation between the mayors of Vyra when it came to artisan buildings. Then I remembered node sieges are coming soon (not ™). The drama over caravan attacks is nothing compared to what we're going to see with sieges and I'm all about it 🤣

  3. My one worry is that people who just gather and craft aren't going to have the stomach for this. So it will be interesting to see how that impacts – well, everything. Fewer materials at markets, fewer people who just want to craft, meaning that pvp guilds are going to either get backlogged or have more people split time to master different crafts, etc. I'm not saying it's good or bad, but the first node that loses a siege war is probably going to see a big drop in citizen-players logging in.

  4. Another Nyce dose of Ashes Content.

    Cheers as always bro 👍

Edit: I'm honestly excited for node sieges, as the idea of the risk vs reward balance being taken to a more macro level feels exciting. I love Ashes and it's vision, because it creates a unique environment that is ripe for rich story-telling, the stories that you and I as players get to make.

Seeing how destruction works in the test environment will be very interesting! Same with siege weapons. I wonder if the ballistae and such will work similar to in ESO, or if they'll be mobile? Idk it all just sounds exciting

  5. I kinda hate that this game is going to have traditional servers with player caps. Every mmo launch I have to keep up with the buzz around servers to make sure I’m on the right one. Then inevitably some of your friends are on the wrong server and you can’t play with each other.

Imo every mmo should have 1 megaserver, or go the OSRS route and allow server hopping whenever you want. If that fucks up the node system then design the node system with server hops in mind.

  6. I have serious concern about how relevant crafting and gathering is going to be. Obviously, we need people focused on that (especially gathering) to progress the node but PvP comes down to who has the higher levels 100% of the time. Crafting takes so long to level that it's almost impossible to keep up with the gear you can get from drops. I don't see how it would not make sense to just rush to max level before touching any crafting stations.

  7. I have no idea what game everyone else is playing maybe i need to be in a streamer guild or people funnel ppl stuff but i am lvl 11 all i been doing is killing mobs hoping for gear drops. None of the questing works my bank is full of mats but at this levei find one copper node every 3 days so you cant craft much low level gear unless u have other people giving u stuff. This view of the game is from a content creator which is very different from your every day player. the game isnt bad the combat is good graphics good but everything else is just like a hodge podge of stuff people literally starving to make stuff with the crafting system. Literally everyone needs copper it has nodes all over the game of other stones u can mine but no copper no zinc witch is need at lower levels. You also might be in a good guild but guild logs in sits in the city and sucks steven of for hours in discord and logs out lol

  8. For now I quit playing Ashes, at first back in october the game was fun and with my guild I had a lot of great time but I started to play Pantheon and I like it more for now…will check back later to see how the game develops.

  9. I know this whole thing probably sounded like a cool idea.
And I get that this is supposed to give people an incentive to "protect their home" and stuff like that.

But people are cowards by nature. In PVP videogames, people are afraid to risk their character dying, while in most games the biggest consequence of that "death" is respawning less than 30 seconds later with no lasting impact.

What will happen here is that everyone joins the biggest alliance of guilds they can find. Because more people means more meatshields when a fight breaks out and less chance it'll be your guild being attacked.

That's how these giant guilds become even bigger, untill an entire game is just 1 insane guild where no one actually knows eachother. And no PVP exists short of camping people who just started playing and haven't signed on to the guild yet.

This game is being made by idiots, who keep promising stuff they either can't or shouldn't make.
Remember when they were going to get all creative and make 64 classes? How each class combination created a whole new class with it's own flavour and mechanics?
Remember how that same creative team named the tank class "tank" in a medieval fantasy setting? Clearly showcasing the creativity required for this promise as being wholly absent.

  10. hopefully they distribute the nodes perfectly and strategically once we have the full map, what will happen if multiple node sieges happen all across the whole map, this might affect the zerging and the idea of no fast travel that much will determine the status of this game

  11. I love the Node Siege concept. I look forward to an era of strategic node warfare whereby there are a handful of rare resources that are critical to mounting a successful siege or defence (perhaps the best siege weapons require a rare wood type that's only available in a small part of the map; or the best wells are made from stones from certain types of quarries – fighting to control access to that area of the map, perhaps far away from the node being sieged – will be epic). I've always heard that the wars in that space MMO were epic, and I like that idea of having to plan and prepare for a successful high level node siege for months. And for "Thuycides Traps" to develop as well, I think that will be super cool – as long as there's an effective and concise way to relay this news to the players!
