MMO Ashes Of Creation will have a bounty hunter system! Today we’ll do a deep dive into how it works and perhaps how it can be improved. I feel everyone should be happy about ashes of creation’s bounty hunting system because how important and can play a part in both fun and player retention. Many whom are scared of the MMO’s PVP voiced concerns of griefing and thus perhaps empowering/incentivizing bounty hunters could help put those players fears aside.

  1. banger video. I'm counting down the days for alpha 2 launch. I just want to see the look on all the people who are against the corruption systems face when they can try it for themselves. You must try the system 1st then decide if the game will succeed after.

  2. I’m one of the PVE players who occasionally dabble in PVP because I suck at it. If I get griefed and lose anything in my inventory or gear that I worked hard for that WILL be the end of the game for me! I’m sure most of the other PVE’ers will feel the same way. If griefers get rewarded then they won’t stop. And if PVE’ers can’t count on not being punished they’ll leave.

  3. Bounty hunting is one of the things I'm most looking forward to! I really hope they can find the pro/con balance where people will actually go corrupt on a regular basis and it not just be a rare occasion where 40 bounty hunters swarm one person the second they flag red

  4. I’m sure there will be some meta op stuff. We’ll see how their updates are rolled out as well to deal with issues or imbalances. The game and system are unique which is why it’s interesting imo

  5. im hyped for the game, just a little worried abou the longevity of it 😕historicaly mmorpg's without good pve content dont last very long, so i hope theres enough pve content for the casuals to keep them hooked and spending that casual money in the store to keep the game running 😁

  6. The firewall against griefing is 100% dependent on the reaction of the person who is attacked. Think of the scenario where someone is out roleplaying as a lumberjack when a griefer attacks. You can fight back, in which case it is now consensual PvP, and any buddies who are out ganking with the original attacker can now jump in without consequence. Or you let them kill you without fighting back. I suppose a lot of people just won't fight back. But say you don't see the original attacker's buddies and you do fight back – the game designers have said that the minute you turn purple they encourage people to jump in lol. It's definitely not grief proof. But a game with this core principle of always-on open-world PvP can't be completely free of it. It will just be funny to see how the player community develops around these concepts.

  7. I think it should be harsh, but a possible playstyle if you are willing to put in the work and are good enough. Basically it is more an elite accomplishment than anything to be known as a red. Perm-reds are known as people that can win gimped and put in their grind to stay relevant. People who are aware of the investment will choose targets carefully. Balancing their curroption gain, loot and the grind.

One issue or question I have about the bounty hunting is how the red tracking will work. Is it something where everyone will have that, even as a gatherer. Just so they can see where the reds are.

  8. Bounty Hunting will be a boring class. Every player has the choice to become Corrupted or not. Very few players will ever choose to become Corrupted. The Corrupted gameplay really sucks.

  9. in L2, we PK for place to farm, place to level, entrance of world boss, even seeing nemesis clan can be a solid reason for PK-ing. and anybody can be the "bounty hunter" as long as they were skilled enough to kill the PK-er. town guards can aggro the RED named character, and can be killed by player as well. But you need a group of 3 or 4 to do that, but he.. it was not like in ESO. interested in seeing how do they design the PK system in AoC..

  10. Will bounty hunters be losing all gear if they die to someone they are hunting?

All I can see in my head is me going red and 10 people chasing me.

Bounty hunting going to be a rare thing I’m guessing you’re legit going to have 100s of people doing this.

Hopefully the reward off killing a red player goes off damage and not the last hit.
