You should never pay for alpha or beta let alone over 100 dollars… Just wait for the game to be finished and stop supporting developers who scam people. Not saying this will, just that it might and if you do, you are part of the reason.

Dont ever preorder, dont ever buy into betas and alphas. Only buy early acces games if the devs have a good reputation and some good games under their belt. Make gaming great again.
I think the best thing to do, other than making pvp / pve servers, is turning on and off friendly fire when you flag / un-flag yourself for pvp so you don't take damage if you have it turned off. Still being able to take damage if you're not flagged for pvp would be horrible if you're in a major mob fight and someone hits you just before you get to kill the mob and takes you out. I could see that causing a LOT of rage quits. Especially if they steal the kill / loot on you.
If it EVER releases I might buy it, if the price makes sense. But these devs seem like greedy little goblins, so I doubt it.
I hated the grind in WoW to get to max level. I enjoy the end game content, not really the leveling. Takes to long, 100 hours to get to max level?!?!?

excuse me HOW MUCH?! Never heard of this game so i was like "The game title sounds catchy" then i heard it was 100 dollars. Heeeeeeeeeeeeell no. Just for TESTING the game… Instead of paying people to be testers for an early alpha game you have to pay for the awesome benefit of playing an early alpha game… not even a beta.
Ok shock from the price point already being a deal breaker.. It just looks like Albion Online in 3d…?
Edit: This is literally Albion Online with that town/pvp system. If anyone is interested in the social aspect of it or just in the system I'd say play that instead. It's free.
From all the drama surrounding the 250 dollar pre alpha testing, I’m gonna go ahead and say no before I watch this video. I was super excited for this game’s release years ago, but that excitement has been dwindling as the months go by.
One thing I would recommend anyone to take into account if they plan on buying ashes of creation to play the alpha is remember that the amount you spend covers you for this alpha the next alpha wave and all the beta waves plus the first month of the final release. Census game is going to be subscription based probably at the normal rate of $15 a month normally $110 would only cover you for 7 months and we know for a fact that the alphas and betas are going to last a lot longer than that so you are definitely going to get your money's worth
Just remember that with all indev games, things are subject to change. If the price of the keys are too much for you right now, just wait. Give it time to win you over. PirateSoftware is a very large supporter of the game and he will probably have a lot of content on it in the form of his stream vods on YT or on Twitch. He streams a lot so you're likely to catch him online, typically earlier in the day.
Also remember, that this is an alpha, there is a lot of stuff in development. The wiki is frequently updated with any and all information as things are pushed to the alpha. This is not a themepark MMO like WoW or FFXIV, this is a social sandbox mmo. Think EVE Online or Lineage. The majority of content will be player driven/created. Guilds fighting one another, drama within said guilds. Espionage, betrayal, victory, defeat, and everything in between.
End of the day, don't by the key if you don't understand what you're buying. Do your research, and don't export your critical thinking to anyone. Figure out of this game is right for you.
