Breaking down everything I noticed in Intrepid Studios highly anticipated upcoming MMORPG, Ashes of Creation. Looking at how gearing and stats will effect builds and theorycrafting going forward as we progress through Alpha 1.

  1. I like it. There will definitely be the meta defining kind of people.. but with a system like this it leaves way more room to create counters to the meta.

    Doesn't matter if people figure out, "oh.. we can just stack __ stat on a spellsword and 1shot most classes" because other people will see that happening and be like okay… I'm going to build a leech tank setup where you live through their combo and leech them down to nothing. Someone will see that and say okay, I'm going to do a snare hunter build where I can keep the leech tanks off me so they can't suck me dry.. then I can just slowly whittle them down. Others will see the snare hunter and say okay.. summoner cleric build where my pet can wreck the hunter while I heal through his traps and damage. xD

    Very few people will be strong against everything, and nobody will be unbeatable. Way better than just trying to balance everything individually. It has the potential to be really frustrating if your class just sucks in general, and there will probably be a lot like that… but I still really like it.

  2. I'm a theory crafter in eso and if they even have a quarter of the types of gear eso has with all the class combinations ohhhh im so excited . I'll probably be demoted in work again for coming in with print outs of skills and gear .
