  1. It's easy to pick a main in Ashes of Creation because whichever class Intrepid has last showcased is the coolest shit you've ever seen and obviously you'll play it till death.

This month featuring ̶S̶o̶n̶a̶ Bard – psa to that tank who always pulls too much aggro and blames the healer, I'll be Gambiting you at 2 hp to make a point.

See you next time when I decide to be a Rogue main!

  2. I'm betting Mage/Cleric will work like a damage-healerthough Fire, Burning and Conflageration like Attonement priests in WoW heal with Smite or how mage healer in WoW Classic SoD heal. And the current fire mage playstyle is dot stacking heavy. Would be insane for sustaining a party through hots. No direct healing but offhealer.

Would reduce a "one cleric each group" stacking mandate as well.

  3. I've been following AoC for some years, but I have to say I find it dissapointing that they go back to locking the player into a class at creation – aka before you even know how the various classes play in the game. Instead of following the likes of ArcAge, where they have a similar system of archetypes, but let you chose freely on a single given character what type you want to develop. And if you find it isn't to your liking, you can swap to anything else you might like. Instead of forcing you to have an increasing number of alts, and fully starting over each time you want to explore something different.
In general anyone who wants to make a splash in the mmo world these days needs to invent to a degree, and not just go back to old and rather limited systems.

  4. what would be interesting to see is what will be the difference from going for example Fighter-Mage vs going Mage-Fighter.. cause one is called Battlemage and one is called Spellsword, even though both are a combination of the same achetypes.

  5. This will be great, past 10+ years most class systems kept getting ever more simplified. The complaining by the few wankers will be massive though, I hope those who love more in depth class systems can shout them down, and AoC ignores them.

  6. I cannot wait to start weaving melodies again. I understand that it isn't going to be the Dark Age of Camelot bard. However, twisting mana and stamina regen with group speed in open world pvp (think perma-sprint with stam and speed) was a blast. I'm generally joking when I compare them, but the DAoC bard is a decent model for any game developer to check, and it's obvious that Intrepid has here. I'm pretty happy with what we've seen so far. Might have to go bard / mage to get some more CC in AoC though.
