Having questlines based of character race is super smart to get people to care about lore and whatnot
how are servers, will it be a US region? can you play with people from EU etc
So how do you prevent a guild of nolifers dominating the entire server? Leaving the entire world in the hands of players sounds like a recipe for disaster. This thing can easily turn into a griefing nightmare.
Maybe just remove the chat… at least not have it over the logo of your sponsor 😛

I think Steven should hire Asmon and Rich to be some sort idk coaches? on how the game should be, those two are a big influnce to the mmo community and pretty much know exactly what the player base wants, would be funny to see
It is the genesis story of this game that makes me want to stand behind it 100%. This game is the vanguard of the revolution against the bloated corporate board room triple A publishers that have been robbing us blind the last decade. Ashes can have all of my money, just for being grassroots and built by an actual fan of the genre who self funded the initial costs.
This guy sounds like me if I were wealthy enough to make my own game lol. Really hope this works out. Ive been waiting for a game like BDO or AA or even Albion but there's always been one thing or another that's held these games back ie. cash shop, grind, full loot pvp, etc. Really excited to see how this turns out.
One thing I dont like just going off videos and I could be off base as obviously ive never played the game is that the combat looks like ESO. The combat of ESO is the reason I dont play it. Id like at least a full bar more worth of ogcd abilities (even interrupts, kicks, buffs) or something else to play with. Combat gets stale with so few abilities. Not a fan of swapping bars either I like having access to all abilities at once (didnt see that in vids so far though).
This MMO has so many red flags and personally I think you are putting your reputation on the line not asking this guy the hard questions. He seems to lack an extreme understanding of why MMO's like Lineage 2 completely failed in the US.

Does Steven play any modern mmos these days? You know like the big five, Wow, ffxiv, eso, gw2, osrs? It's cool that he has experiences playing games like lineage and archage but I would hope he's familiar with popular mmorpgs that are successful in the west.

If they made the monster coin system like an individual 'level up this individual monster to use in battle', it could provide a very nice and an extremely long progression system.
This game is really ambitious and there's a good chance it's going to fall to meet those ambitions, when it does Steven is going to get blamed for everything because of how much he interacts with the community.
whatever else anyone might say this guy has got a lot of balls.
We all get burned by games so I still don't trust an ambitious game until it's actually been out and working well for like 3 months, but man Steven could fucking sell me on anything!
That cosmetics conversation was so on point, it's unreal and not just for MMO's or cash shops, my entire hobby of gaming, most of the enjoyment comes from playing in a world that isn't real life, getting to do something fantastical that wouldn't otherwise be possible and a lot of that comes down to the progression in that game, whatever that may be, power or knowledge, or for me, most importantly visually.
When my character looks awesome, I feel like I've made progress and earning it from some difficult challenge instead of just buying it IS SO IMPORTANT. I cannot stress that enough, whether it's WoW, Rocket League, The Sims or my little fucking pony simulator, earning progression > buying progression (in my opinion that is being a pussy ass cheating little bitch, don't care if you have kids and a busy job to be honest)
