There has been a lot of interest around New World the past couple weeks. I spent some time diving into the game in the free time I did have this past week. I was pleasantly surprised especially after the recent alpha tests. It is still too early to tell how well the game will do but here are the 5 things I think that New World did terribly and need to learn how to do better from #AshesofCreation.
#Intrepid has said that #Alpha is when the community can have the most influence on the game through feedback so let me know what you think in the comments below!

New World just doesn't do it for me. I have no desire to be a conquistador or try to blend fantasy elements with muskets….I know I know it's just me, I hated wow for that reason too, out grinding or questing and off on the distance..boom…gunshot…so immersion breaking g for me.
As another twitch guy said, NW doesn't seem to be made from a trillion dollar company. I will stand by my prediction, after a month it will be dead….unless tbey bring out some jaw dropping stuff at launch…and I just don't see it. Great vod btw, all excellent points.
Can you just take your gear off to avoid the duration penalty when you do a respawn death?

I think it's clear that AGS as a corporate entity does not understand gamers. It appears to me that their entire history of development with NW indicates that they were learning as they went along. The pivot from a PvP sandbox to a MMORPG was accomplished essentially by newbies in MMORPG development. As far as server populations go, in every respect that you scold AGS, I think you do so deservedly. However, some of the congestion must be attributed to player missteps. It was easy to predict that high name recognition servers, such as Atlantis, would be overpopulated as the natural tendency of everyone is to pick from the familiar. Secondly, the very act of large organized alliances choosing the same server prior to launch almost guaranteed that the selected server would be slammed. At least during Beta, the better move would have been to try to choose a server with an unknown name. 'Quests: Simplistic and Boring". You hit that nail square on the head. I think each of your points is entirely valid, as a matter of fact. This video could actually be used as a post mortem for NW when (a month after launch?) it crashes and burns like a B-17 with one wing shot off.
