What is Ashes of Creation???

Ashes of Creation is a unique take on the MMO experience. Our world structure is dynamic and built to react to the actions of our players. Cities will rise and fall, their populations based on the history of the world as the players create it. Quests will unlock as these populations gather, their needs grow, and secrets are unlocked. As the world’s NPC structure is established in real time, players will have the ability to destroy what they’ve created, paving the way for new development, new populations, and real change. Political strife and intrigue will play a very real role in the structure of your world. Gone are the days of static worlds, change is here to stay.

  1. I have never understood why other games did not learn something from Star Wars Galaxies when it comes to artisans. It was possible to make better gear by searching planet to planet resource quality levels then slapping down harvesters to drain them dry. SWG had, to me, by far the best artisan system in an MMO. My big AoC concern is the open pvp since I am not a big pvp'er at all, but the negative should not sway me to minimum give AoC a month of my time … hoping for much longer, I "need" this MMO to fix my gaming woes.

  2. The Monster Coin Events will be pretty wild…gotta hand it to them on sheer creativity alone. When it comes to the various systems in the game the feature I think will stand out most is how each one flows into and augments a component of one or more of the other systems in the game. The level of thought and care brought to bear to craft this game is what will make it both unique and exceptional. I think Intrepid is wise to look at what other games have done…both done well, and poorly. Then take inspiration from the ones that are done well while avoiding the pitfalls of the ones that are poorly put together. However, I don't think they really ever plan to just mimic something else…their goal is to take a look at 'why' it is good, and then build upon it and make it even better. Most publishers see this as unnecessary because it will take too much time, too much effort, or too much money. Intrepid wants to give gamers the system depth and complexity that will make the game fun, interesting, and worthwhile to play.
