I liked the combat showcase. I think it looks as good as it is, and doesn't need more flashy images. What would be interesting is if they could give the feel of being knocked back or stunned,slowed ,etc when the sword glances or sticks if the strike is not a clean hit.
Proximity chat is awesome… The many highlight videos of New World to me prove that it can be a fantastic tool. If you don't like it just turn it off…

How can Intrepid actually "test" the Node System in the absence of thousands of players?
Is there the equivalent of ten thousand Sims playing Ashes of Creation, levelling, crafting, trading, fighting, or just a statistical model of inputs, or something in between?
Regardless how Intrepid is testing Nodes, to avoid a catastrophic Launch, they'd better stress test Nodes under a variety of scenarios.
What happens when the Locust Swarm consumes as much content as they can stomach, and then abandons the game?
What happens if thousands of Gankers deliberately try to ruin Ashes just to prove they can?
What if farmers, bots, and wage slaves make it difficult to enjoy the game as intended.
Alpha 2 cannot answer these questions directly, because with a $250 minimum entry fee, the player base will be committed to the game, and however each one interprets the vision. The Node System could easily prosper under the Alpha 2 player base, but crash and burn at Launch.
Any word on if they've taken a look at how the city systems were abused in New World and how they might prevent that? (i.e. huge unstoppable guilds taking over everything and setting exorbitant taxes)

Go back to the development livestream from a few months ago when they showed off the weather system. Just before they rolled the clip, somewhere around the 15 minute mark of the video if I remember right they let slip the team watched the video several months before they showed us. We can only speculate how much more they have that they haven't shown yet.
Open world proximity chat is something I dislike as well. Simply because it can and will be annoying. Sure there is some funny and random moments that can spur. But you cant ignore idiots spamming slurs, playing obnoxious music, and constantly heavy breathing/moaning into the mic. For content creators imagine having to deal with all that. It'll be another session of PubG with Forsen. If intrepid happens to have Open world proximity chat then so be it. it is what it is. I can always turn it off…hopefully
Is "proximity chat" supposed to be "proximity voice chat" trough the whole video? because those are 2 different things
Almost everyone has some sort of voice chat software, like Discord.
I would love RP servers where proximity chat is enabled everywhere. I could finally play a raspy voiced orc bard, traveling around and singing about butchering enemies.
It is a major copium hit hearing how far along node mechanics currently are. Saying they were barely functional in Alpha 1 is being generous. Vendors and crafting stations would disappear after updates. House storage would frequently disappear as well as ownership, and yes that also meant home owners lost everything they had stored in them. Citizenship was buggy and difficult to switch. So many things required GM intervention that I honestly feel like I can’t remember all of them. Back then it truly felt like node mechanics were the area where they had the most room for improvement. Hearing that it is now all nearing a finished state is super exciting.
Watching for the quality. Dont have interest in the game (cant say since i found out about it months ago)
It was pretty clear to me that the version they A1 tested, wasn't the version they had.
proximity chat for party/guild is ok. Otherwise its only immersion braker
All narc videos are useful. Merely listening to your thoughts and input on the game is a video well worth watching.

We gotta get Narc a shitilly wrote soap opera to act out parts of before videos for awhile. I'm fucking loving the Narc lore in the intros.
I was excited until reality hit me and told me that this game will not come out in the next few years.
I first thought this meant text chat. Being able to chat with nearby players is obviously a must. Voice chat can be more practical but in general I like text chat more. Text chat has lower barrier of entry and less potential for breaking immersion, and less powerful in terms of griefing or just bad quality.
Text chat works very well in games like runescape or MOBAs where your character may be performing automatic actions for long periods of time, but it's a problem in more action-like games where you have to constantly do things manually. So I thought, why not make an bot that can automatically continue your past actions for up to 10s when you are typing? You could configure the logic to your liking.
Random thought about player collision. What if they have a combat rating that turns on player collision so people aren’t stuck trying to get a mission and get out
Hopefully alpha 2 hits before the food riots do.
