I almost bought a Gigabyte A5 K1 Gaming Laptop yesterday, but in the time it took me to shop for a cooling pad, it sold out. Oh well, Alpha 2 is still at least months away.
Not sure whether this is too fast for me.
I think the arc traces too flashy too. I'd prefer a light wind-like vapor trail. With a lot of players those light bright flashes get annoying.
I suspect you’ll only be able to double down on archetypes for Alpha 2, instead of combining two different ones because it may take more time to iron all the combinations out
If it ends being action combat with no option for ‘tab target’ then the game will unfortunately be dead on arrival for me. I play zero current ‘action combat’ games for a reason.
I was really nervous about this reveal but was pleasantly surprised, really looking forward to the updated spell caster and ranged animations in the future, even the damage numbers scrolling looked good.
Pleasantly surprised, the sword definitely had weight and just seeing this and not being able to play it, it's it's 110% improvement from Alpha1.
general design direction is perfect, need to smooth out the animations so all good.
The annimations for the dagger were too fast, created blur and made everything look worse. I just hope they slow the attacks across the board, no way is a great sword as fast as a dagger. Most high speed combat hides the fidelity of the graphics, which is done by design, but why do that after moving to ue5, let the players enjoy them. I hope they are not trying to compete and follow the animations of bdo, slow everything down and let ashes be ashes.
The red circle that appeared under some of the mobs was him targeting them locking where his character was swinging. Steven also expressed that they would be adding animation cancels and giving the player the ability to react with certain abilities even in the middle of a swing. This was explained with the directional change of your attacks based off your movement when the hit box for the attack comes out. The Two handed sword looks really good but I do agree that the daggers feel a little too floaty. It also seemed that blocking attacks halved the damage he took from the attacks which might only effect basic attacks but we'll have to see, hopefully you can't just hold block down maybe some stamina system or that certain attacks break your block, again we'll just have to see.

Theres no way you should almost be able to get 3 auto attacks with a 2h in a second… you look at wows 2h's and you get only 1 auto attack in like 3 seconds. They should hit extremely hard though to make up for the speed.
Ashes of Creation THE COMBAT IS NOT SO GOOD REALLY… It is literally GW2 copy which Ashes of Creation combat is still not impressive as GW2 combat, skill animations and movement.
I really don't see any skill animations, combat improvements comparing to old combat videos within the years.
Something feels missing in Ashes of Creation's combat. There is no uniqueness at all. We waited for years to hope Ashes of Creation's combat, skill animations etc to be good… If a game's combat is not so good from the beginning, there is no point to play it for long term gameplay… Just look at the ELYON COMBAT + Skill animations + visuals, there is no enjoyment and uniqueness to make you play to do pvp and pve farming, grinding or fight against other players. I tried Elyon for 30 minutes something, I didn't like it. It is same for Bless Online or Bless Unleashed etc mmorpgs too… Thus, these are so important and I don't see anything special with Ashes of Creation COMBAT at all for years…
Even the mmorpgs we complain like Aion, Tera Online, Blade and Soul, Lineage 2, New World and even Archeage (especially with Swiftblade combat – both action and tab target) have better skill animations + visuals, better combat and movement mechanics than Ashes of Creation that you don't get bored easily even spawning the same similar actions while doing pvp and pve content.
Combat animations are not so impressive still, I see Guild Wars 2 Copy; but Guild Wars 2 combat and skill animations are more fluent and cooler than Ashes of Creation for sure… Therefore, Ashes of Creation combat is not so unique and impressive really…
They talked about combat for months that will be good, or we assumed like that and this is what we get. I am not impressed at all… Nothing changed at all for years about combat, skills, movement animations to make this game unique to enjoy when you do pvp or pve… Even new upcoming mmorpg named Throne and Liberty with Unreal Engine 5 has better combat mechanics, animations, movements etc than Ashes of Creation…
At least they should make these combat animations skills more cooler that you feel that you fight – hit the enemy etc.
Shortly, after years following Ashes of Creation, combat mechanics, skill animations, and movements are so simple. Even the mmorpgs we don't like so much which are currently dead mmorpgs in EU Region have more unique better combat mechanic and skill animations etc, like New World, Archeage, Aion, Lineage 2, Tera Online, Blade and Soul than Ashes of Creation…
this looked so good, its kind of like a mix between BDO and GW2 combat and the graphics are amazing in Unreal 5. The hammer strike with the positioning based skillshot is an amazing design for a skill.
I thought the combat looked really good. the one very minor thing I didn't like is how the character holds the sword while running. IMO it just doesn't look right to hold a two handed sword in front of you while running
Personally I'd be plenty happy if they just decided to go full on action combat other than things like some crowd control spells, heals, buffs, and debuffs. Single target abilities such as those will need to be able to select a specific target
I have too say iam not sooo happy with it. Right direction, but it looks too much jrpg like to me. Standard attacks shouldn't have this yellow effect
