  2. To be honest, I think graphically what we have seen from the game is a bit outdated now. With UE5 you can do so much more and in my opinion everything needs another pass to be upgraded. The team has to learn a new engine and get familiar with the new possibilities. I am very hopeful that they won't disappoint. A dynamicly changing environment would be awesome and adds a lot of new options for game play too. Like season related quests and item discovery for crafting etc…

  4. The "immersion" factor of a changing environment to indicate an event is lost anyway with World chat. It would be constantly spammed with "boss X up" and being asked whether said boss is up. Guaranteed.

  5. Now see I 100% agree with you on this, I thought it's not just "switching seasons" it's dynamically changing the entire world and they can do it on a whim so all the events can be signaled. It all ties in very neatly with the idea of nodes upgrades and changing of styles and architecture. I mean how many themes have we seen in all of the cosmetic packs? 50 60?
    And see that ties in with something else, crafting. Because all of these cosmetics are going to be craftable more or less and you need the materials to do that so they have to be in the world somewhere at some time, and it all points to this very system.

    And that also leads to something else, every single server will look different all the time. Think about that!

  12. I wan't an MMO where the terrain you are in affects your character and skills. Something a lot like Genshin Impact and how the different elements have strengths and weaknesses. Obviously expand on it way more in MMO fashion.

    Perhaps certain races can be stronger depending on seasons, elves or fairies get stronger in spring and northmen viking-esque classes in winter. I'm tired of MMOs where race basically doesn't matter for anything besides aesthetics.

    Obviously, this will be a balance nightmare, but let's be real, does a perfectly balanced MMO even exist. There's always a best in slot meta build. One week, nature magic elves can be S Tier, while they are near forests in spring, the next week they could be trash. This might feel better than picking a nature magic elf on release and then 8 months later, some sweaty gamer finds a broken build, and then the devs nerf the whole class to oblivion. Then you are stuck with a useless storage alt. This happens in most MMOs that i can think of.

I hope it's something like: normal seasons rotate on a week or two-week schedule, but world bosses can cause unique weather events such as vocanic eruptions, massive thunderstorms, blizzards, etc. even in areas which normally wouldn't get that kind of weather. Maybe even bosses that destroy all harvesting nodes or make the wildlife incredibly feral and aggressive while they're active.

  14. Personally I think it's going to be a complete showcase of the weather/day night system… It's something MMOs get wrong all the time and I think Steven thinks they have it down pat. I was typing this as the video plays in the background and it looks like you think that as well!

  19. Always thought it'd be cool for an MMORPG world to have dynamic seasons. More immersive than running out of the temperate themed zone to an icy tundra … you know because weather obeys imagined borders, lol.

  20. Have you tried meta events in Guild wars 2? What you described sounds something like that – the event spans the whole zone and requires participantion from a lot of players. Usually they do tend to cause a change in the map (e.g. a map wide blizzard that starts when a frost dragon attacks or NPCs starting to behave differently, etc.)
