I also love these feature, but just curious, why it should not be possible without APIs? If it will be official thing, then it's doesn't make any difference if it is separate process, even main game process communicate throught non-API netcode, these windows can use same (maybe little simplier) protocol just with needed set of features. No need to talk about consequences, but it's totally posibble.
