Ashes Of Creation recently concluded its month long Alpha 1 test that ran from July 14th to August 15th, I gave my first impressions of the Alpha 1 a few weeks back but this is a follow up video where I take on some world bosses, partake in a castle siege, look at the attention to detail in the world, check out some new melee combat changes and take to the skies on a flying mount.

Questing in our world combines the best elements of traditional MMO’s as well as the introduction of our unique player driven experiences. That castle siege was literally a 10 minute clip of what WW3 would look like in Harry Potter! I think I saw 3 melee people in the entirety of that siege haha
This game makes me wish I wasn't a dirty casual these days. I don't raid or pvp anymore. Questing, collecting and housing is my life now

I wish they would make a game like red dead or GTA where you can enter buildings on the fly. Also make the staff a AOE melee
What is a staff but a melee stick with a focus-feature for casters? 😏
For an alpha one this looks great, personally to much clutter for my taste so hopefully when can turn that down
I hate real space housing because it's impractical to implement in a why that is satisfying in a game setting. You get the best housing grabbed up or hoarded. It brings out the worst in people. I hope they make it instanced like BDO so everyone can have the house they want.

The visual pollution of this game's skills is unbearable
They really need to work on spell effects and sounds, most of them look and sound out of place and generic, the mage in specific looks like his just bursting glitter with neon lights with their size being completely out of scale.
Have to say, Im super underwhelmed by this game.

I think others have mentioned it, but yeah the fact that you can pick a main class and a subclass leading to things like spellblade having a two hand option that is half melee half spellcasting would be amazing since most games relies on sword and offhand, but i agree that having a ranged version of a staff would also be nice.
Is it me, or does the game look even cheaper? Like more "borrowed assets" and "college project" look to it? Needs more races.

The best housing I have seen in a game was in Ultima Online (UO)… nearly 25 years ago now. Everything since has been lame. In UO people could break into your house and take everything if you lost the key to your house. You could open a teleport to your house in town and lure newbies thru the teleport to your house then trap them, kill them then loot them. Houses would decay if the owner didn't play much so just walking around in the world you could come across freshly decayed houses and loot everywhere. So much so you would have to call in your friends / guild to help grab stuff…. fun times. I really have never understood why newer games have not reproduced the UO system.
This game looks pretty awesome so far. Great content that showcases something promising for the mmo community. Keep it up. Makes me want to buy into alpha 2

I personally hate combat systems that allow you to move around while attacking.
It makes the combat floaty, and completely ruins the feeling of impact. What the animations need is cancellable frames.
I'd argue that the particles need a huge revision if they're going to reduce the amount of "I can't tell what's going on right now" chaos in large encounters (ie. raids, sieges especially)… Hopefully the lower settings will give the option for smoother, softer, more transparent effects.
Even in classic WoW 40+ player encounters, I'm able to easily discern spells from each other, visual clarity of players/environment, AND not destroy my framerate in the process.

This raid looks incredibly clunky and unpolished. I wonder how that is going to change.
The only thing is that they should maybe tone down on the visual effects during fights…….just looks too busy, but love the game so far.
This looks incredible, and it's only Alpha. I really do think this will be the next big thing in MMOs that has success. Reminds me of the days of relic raids in Dark Age of Camelot.
looks promising, but, i'm not really all about the hyper realistic graphics, i think they should've gone a bit more cartoony, would've been easier on the graphics drivers too, and reduce lag… Because that lag is gonna be a huge problem, MMO's should not have to lag like that when many people are on screen, it's better to have reduced graphics than deal with 5 fps, lol.
