The way classes work is like this: Your base archetype gives you all of your abilities. Abilties can be upgraded to have additional effects if you invest more points into them. For example, the Tank spell that gives him increased damage mitigation can be upgraded to give it to your allies as well. Mage blink can be upgrade to go further, have a shorter CD, and deal damage at arrival, etc.
At level 25 you chose your secondary archetype. This does not grant you any new abilities from that archetype. However, it gives you access to four unique Schools of Augmentation. This let's you augment all of your abilities from your primary archetype into one of the four schools of your secondary.
For an example they have given, say you are a base archetype Fighter. You have a rush ability, where you travel X distance and deal damage to a target. If you chose a Mage as your secondary archetype, you gain access to their schools of augmentation. One of them is Teleportation, so if you apply it to Charge, you now teleport X distance to the target, arriving instantly with no travel time and making enemies unable to attack or CC you in the process. Or if you apply the Elemental school from mages, you might charge to the target and set them on fire to deal addition damage over time.
So a tank who chooses a Cleric secondary may be able to augment their tank skills to also have self heals or protective bubbles, and could give their damage attacks leech or holy fire augments, etc. Kind of like the morphs in ESO except you have 4 options for each secondary archetype, so every ability will have 32 potential variants if I did my math correctly lol.
Great video, I'm excited for the game too 🙂
Reaction videos are such a wonderful type of genre – lovely to experience such awesome things with more and more people 😀
