  1. Some valid points you made regarding the combat. I hope they take this feedback on board.

Let's not forget though that this particular Alpha test is about core systems and stability. I'm sure the final combat solution will be much more in line with our expectations once it's fully developed and polished closer to the Beta phase of testing.

  2. 5 min drooling over how you ASSUME they listen to feedback, while all they did was put in something trivial every MMO has for over a decade. Just don't oversell and overhype please… just stop. "That's a really lame update, right?" Right. Or at most basic.

  3. I would disagree with your comment that BDO was the best as far as animation (or anything for that matter.) In UE4, there are two types of animation: those that displace the character position (Root Motion) and those that do not. It's clear that the melee animations that drive a character forward in AoC are of the Root Motion type. The animations in BDO utilize the eastern, hyper non-realistic style (extremely exaggerated movements and displacements), while the stated goal of the AoC devs is to produce a more realistic look and feel to character movements. In the real world, weapon movements of the melee type almost always involve a displacement of the body to some degree or other. The problem here is not the movement itself, but the collision and that's where I would say efforts need to be made. Were a player character collision to result in the natural movement of the collidee (driven back, knocked down, pushed aside) or a rebound of the collider (bounce off, fall down, staggered backwards) then I would say that the objectionable pinning in place would be eliminated.
