I never had an issue with cosmetic shops but what you said makes a lot of sense. that visual progression is really important and helps with world immersion. I would prefer to earn that fashion set in game than buy it. So in the end I think it would be better if they dropped the cosmetic shop and set up a merch shop, because I know I'll be getting those badass plushies haha
One thing I learned form being an MMO fan since 2004 is "Wait until release". Btw hearing the Witcher 3 music in the background makes me wanna play it again…lol
I look forward to AOC but I will never let them live down the fact that they thought Apoc was good enough standalone BR to have a cash shop with a battle pass system. That's a solid omegalul from me on that front.
should just make cosmetics be equipable according to the level the armor resembles to be, I would prefer if there was absolutely no cosmetics, but at least cosmetics pertaining to the level of the character and their current power would make sense to me
also if the cosmetics where just restricted to max level, this would also make sense since cosmetic is really something you normally get into by the time you're max level– this or comsetic level progression is a fix for me
I didn't know the community wanted store cosmetics, and if that is the way then it is fine as long as their are certain restrictions around their time of use
personally i love the idea of these cosmetics. it keeps me interested in the month to month progress of the game. I likely wouldn't give a poo about what's happening with Ashes of Creation until it was playable otherwise. I get that some people don't like it, but for me i'm a fan of a new set of cosmetic items being available each month. Occasionally I even find something I want to buy, but the main reason I like it is because it keeps me returning my gaze to what's happening with the game month after month.
Im someone who occasionally buys cosmetics in games that im enjoying, an i gotta say, i much prefer the way ashes handles theirs. Having things become unique to that month, and then also only coming out with stuff once a month. I cant stand the stores thats constantly trying to grab its away into my wallet by releasing things multiple times a week. Steven has also stated multiple times that cosmetics in the store wont outshine the ones you can earn ingame, and that those ingame will be even nicer then what you can buy. Im hoping this to be true as well.
I'd rather have an ingame merch store to allow people to support the game if they want and also get real physical items in return than a cosmetic in game shit .. Yes the revenue from selling physical merch won't be as much as ingame cosmetics but it's much more healthier and people like me who don't pay extras for mounts or cosmetics and all this shit would buy a cool Mug or T-shirt if we liked it .
Your definition of fomo is blatantly wrong and misleading. FOMO does not make any claims about the "limited availability" being a false pretense. That is nonsensical. The concept of fomo builds on the fear of regret "If I would have just went out with friend a instead of watching a bad movie with friend b.", "if I would just had bought that super cool armor that was on sale 6 months ago".
Fomo is a general social phenomenon that exists outside of the the digital market space. And in the case of ashes of creation the game is blatantly preying on it. Saying "it's not fomo because these items are truly exclusive" is nonsensical. And the community wishing for it does not in any way excuse it. Now Sharif and his team prey on peoples goodwill instead of peoples fomo. Well, technically both.
Considering his background in MLM, transition into real estate via his mlm colleagues, the predatory cash shop of aoc, the absurdly overpriced alpha access and the "recruit a friend" progrem that essentially was a pyramid scheme in itself AoC is undeniably a scam. Even IF it releases and somehow turns out to be a good game.
On that note any of the hype surrounding the title is… weird. We don't know how the game will feel because the final iteration of combat will, according to sharif himself, have absolutely nothing in common with the current one. All but two zones shown so far were temporary placeholders for the sake of showing gameplay features. Fans of the game always say that we can see steady progress, but the truth is that so far we have seen close to nothing that is actually representative of the final product.
… After at least 5-ish years of development nontheless. Ashes has almost as many red flags raised as Star Citizien. That's the harsh truth of it.
I know who you talking about " KiraTV" the only one who focuses on negative things about AOC all the time …. that guy is a real cancer I wish i will never see any more videos from him
AoC is following the exact same path as Star Citizen. It is the same exact strategy. I don’t think it’s a scam but I bet It will be in a similar place to Star Citizen in 3-5 years, not a fully released game.
You're calling a game that is an actual game, where the devs give weekly updates themseslves… show off the progress of the game almost weekly.. a scam? Do you have any idea the actual definition of the word "scam"? Thats ridiculous. You could say they are greedy maybe.
This video is absolute garbage by a garbage human being. Disgraceful click bait on a game that is so far from a scam. This is literally sickening and shame on you isn't enough. I hope you lose followers over this obvious hit piece.
If I could purchase real world AOC approved sandals with $/embers I would. As a backer is felt my participation was enough though I was anti cosmetic shop…I'll admit I caved on the Dunir Runic set and Goat mount/caravan.

Bald reaction soon? Also copium
The cosmetics being "rare" is something I like. It might suck right now but when at level cap people are different looking it will be awesome

Whats sad is, the combat seen in Apocalypse is nowhere to be found in the MMO, at least not in the pre-alpha.
Full disclosure, im a backer. I don't think its a scam, but I'm tired of wsiting for at least something.

You've got yourself a new subscriber not only because of greate content, but you even told me to go grab a pepsi. Ashes and pepsi, a dream come true 😇

When has a dev ever said dont give me your 500$, just wait. never. much respect to steven

You are disgusting.
Cosmetic stores dont belong in MMOs
so originally they only needed 700k- got over 2mil- and to test it, it's 500 bucks? seems legit.
I'm not for limited edition in game cosmetics I've been the newer player that missed out and it sucks when its impossible to get what you want.
Have to admit it, this game has some smelly ass beginning. At one point it people actually were almost forced to think it was abandoned project.
thiccest inhale ever not a scam bro exhale
Really enjoyed this one. Good job.
I think Merchandise is a much better monetization option than in game purchases. You wont feel as bad if the game tanks, but you got a sweet hoodie.
0:18 more like a beer who drink pepsi mate how old are you
It exsistss because of $
If they don't need the money, they can give it to charity? Except reasons…
