Video Description: Attempting to solve the gear related problems presented in MMOs that try to mix PvP and PvE together. Looking at Intrepid Studios highly anticipated upcoming MMORPG, Ashes of Creation and trying to figure out how they will deal with these problems. Could Elder Scrolls Online gearing system solve the problem?

You deserve it all dont worry

Oh God. Please don't let them make gear so cookie cutter. I'm tired of MMOs where there is always just a couple or few pieces of best in slot for "milestone" levels and so everyone basically looks the same or makes gearing so trivial and thoughtless, your grandma can do it. I want many many choices for each gear slot but each can still be bada$$ and make since depending on what other gear you have. I would love to see many many looks to the gear. Who doesn't like to dress up and kick a$$? I still remember what Everquest 1 felt like in 2000 when gearing up and the choices/itemization seemed ENDLESS. I also liked how you could kill a rat and have a low chance at getting some Epic item.. That was so crazy!
Very true.
I usually don't coment (language barryer) but i can tell, you deserve It
Just use enchants and jewelry slot on a same gear to change the gear stats for pve or pvp. 2 slot for pvp and 2 slot for pve for all gear. So people can focus on where they want to chase. People playing pvp can focus on the pvp slots, the same for pve players. A simple solution.
no hate but are you gonna spend every intro thanking your viewers? i come to watch the video but i always tend to skip the first minute because it's nothing about ashes lol
I for one appreciate the time and effort you pour into every video. It is not as easy as it looks and the time investment is surprising. Again thank you for your time and effort on our behalf…
Solid content again! Personally, the friendly and respectful community is very much appreciated.
Question: Most players will need to or want to travel the vast world of Verra. With time and travel being critical game mechanics will players be able to stay at friends houses and/or fellow guildmate houses (may increase the footprint of the same guild across the world) while out on their adventures? Or will there only be housing available to travelers at Inns and Taverns? Assuming that Inns and Taverns will contain player paid lodgings. Any additional thoughts on this topic or concerns on the distant adventure player experience?
Keep up the great work!
Eso is cookie cutter and your gear stats make ti so you do the same damage to mobs since they all scale. That game puts me to sleep. There should be a mix of old school doing higher tier stuff to get stronger gear, and having the different types of stats as well that effect your gear.

Hello it's me again (Wow you are getting subs really fast and I'm really happy for you)
One of the problems people had with pve vs pvp gear in games like wow is that sometimes the best pvp gear came from the high end raids. Ashes is not like that. The best gear will be crafted. If you don't want to raid, the game isn't going to force you.. so there isn't really any need for "pvp" or "pve" gear… its just gear.
The game is balanced around 8 man dungeon content.. not arena, so being super sweaty about 1 persons gear vs the other in a 1v1, that is completely pointless. If they create separate gear paths for every area of content and you are just dividing peoples attention.. creating unnecessary hurdles for development, etc. Set bonuses can be cool, but I would much rather gear just have generic stats and I build the stat I want on the gear I want. If I end up in a situation where I have 5 different sets of gear for different bonuses for any given type of content.. that is just dreadful to me. I hated dealing with that kind of thing in wow.. carrying around an AoE set of gear, a single target set, a pvp gear.. gear for a second spec.. changing talents between every fight.. that is not fun to me, that is not immersive.. it makes all the gear feel like worthless charm bracelets that you change based on your mood.
About gear power.. if you are some freshly capped character who gets scuffling with someone in the woods, and that person has played Ashes from the beginning.. and they are completely decked out in epics.. they should decimate you. It shouldn't even be a competition. They are a master of their craft, and you are a scrub.. that is just how it goes. Take that whoopin and aspire to be better.
Ok so at this time (subject to change I am sure ) Steven has said PVE/PVP gear is all the same , what changes gear is your augments ( wild guess here , gems , sockets etc… ) So getting some (we will call them gems just to make this easier ) gems from instances , PVP event ,religious factions , quest , arena etc… AoC also will have a rank system for PVP and depending on rank you get access to certain gems (subject to change its alpha ) You say problem for gear I love the channel but I dont find a issue with me just tossing in gems to change stats or whatever to suit what content i will be doing at that time .
IMHO:
Think of Armor as Visual Shells.
These shells have base stats depending on the Type, Light, Medium, Heavy.
That is their Primary "practical" use.
These shells also have slots. These slots can be filled with Augments.
The Augments for those slots are like " 'loose change in a roll' to help your punches", so to speak.
Therefore, think of Armor as a "secondary" but weaker sub archetype mixed with crafting, effect, and social Augments.
Armor could potentially have the most versatility, but have the lowest "power changes" to combat.
This is very complicated, but really doesn't add much to the pool already, number wise.
Potentially from what I have heard we'll have at least 8x8x(4+2)x11=4224 combinations so far.
Armor Augments will, at most, double that. LOL
Good video, Min Maxing was never my thing, I let my scrub meat-shield do that for me 🙂 I know there is always the issue where the crafters want crafted gear to be the end all be all, and raiders/PvPers want their efforts to net the end all be all. I always thought the system where crafting is all, but raids and PvP, and other PvE drops rare materials, gems, etc that are needed for high-end crafting, and use that to integrate the need for both the raiding and crafting, thereby integrating both of them.
Interesting thing I've picked up from you. What if your progress isn't just "how much you've killed" but also "how far you've traveled". WoW has touched on this somewhat with their systems of borrowed power. You gain new skills but are only usable in those zones (where you learn the skill). This is an aspect of metroidvanias that I've always liked. What if this dragon under this volcano rewarded you with gear augments instead of loot?
This has been resolved as far as I know. There are supposedly other ways to augment your gear. Tokens just add another layer to a decently complex. System. Ill play like 3 to 4 hours a day so to keep it casual enough because it's already gearing up to be an immensely time consuming game. I hope it holds tbh
Mic was borked a bit. But looking forward to the story.
Make the PVE content do a lot of cc, the monsters/ai smart and difficult so the gear will have to inherent pvp stats like Increased tenacity, more dodge rolling/resistances. Make it about the skills you use not more sets of gear just a one size fits all.
Great video! I really enjoy your content, I am actually playing ESO since the start of the game and the only other MMO that caught mu attention in AOC. Keep up the good work!
BTW, ESO has around 500 sets in total. That includes everything, craftable, raid gear, monster sets, mythic items, etc…
You're going to need multiple sets of gear for Ashes.
Was really torn about leaving a like since the ratio was at 69…..but the youtubez algorithm @_@ love the video, although I got to point out that the audio was a bit weird this time. Also from my experience the more you divide the gear for pvp exclusive and pve exclusive the more imbalance you are actually creating, and pvp gear only obtainable through pvp only creates a sort of exclusivity for it. Also I'd rather stab my big toe an a piece of furniture rather than grind two separate sets of gear for pvp and pve separately >.>
i can never keep up with AMAs or redit because of my sight. even with my handicap i still do well in competitive games but if this game has small faint txt or stupid colour choices or strange font styles im out. the rest i will adapt to but that i just cant. its the one thing i care about in ALL games yet nobody ever talks about it. I have tried to contact people about this in the past but i just cant get past all the other normal people asking normal questions. Xillin you are my only hope on this one please dont forget about me 😀
