Video Description: Taking a look at a comment I received on a different video about games that try to mix pve and pvp content and how they can be balanced. Can it be done at all? In this video we attempt to answer that question.

  1. Hello! Well pve'ers should be ok around There noodes. There is always gona be some guild for pvp that will need The pve'ers. So you should be able to farm no problem. Personaly i like Both aspects pvp and pve. HF

  2. Ok I got to be honest I am looking forward to the player killers and stuff like that because of the bounty systems. I am really looking forward to be a bounty hunter, it always been one of my fantasy I never seen a good bounty system like this in any other games. So ya I actually want pk to happen 😅

  3. Hej, someone already told a similar problem with pvp and environment destruction/changing. Its not fun when the destruction and pvp is forced on you. Lets just have an option to do so or if you choose to be on a pvp server ofcourse. It's like the bad guys are destroying and other players that don't want any part of it are punished for it. I think asmongold (Zack rawr) gave his thoughts on Ashes.

  4. "Make it so that the PVPers can't force PVEers to PVP" HARD NO!

I am generally a PVE player who doesn't mind PVP. The system as they have described it should not be changed, and sounds like it will never be changed, according to Stephen. That is GOOD.

  5. im really not to worried about all this (despite the lack of evidence) because Steven himself is awful at pvp and seems to be more of a pve guy himself. but that might be really optimistic, idk. also im really excited at the thought of hiring pvpers to help escort my materials from node to node

  6. Video is looking good! My best experience with a game that mixed PvE and PvP extremely well has to be DAOC. My most fond example has to be Darkness Falls. This was done so well. It's a complex system to unwrap, but the basic idea was that whichever of the 3 realms controlled the most keeps in the frontiers (designated PvP zones) would control the Darkness Falls dungeon. (I think it was based on keeps and not relics, but it's one of those) It offered another way to gear up, awesome XP for solid and fast leveling, and then when control would change over via the relics, you could have at least 2 of the 3 realms inside DF at the same time. This would create some very cool spontaneous PvP encounters inside the dungeon.

The dungeon was unlocked through the "main" PvP mechanics in the frontiers, sieging keeps, stealing relics, etc, and it was attractive to basically all players. And for that matter, it was always exciting when it would change over and create some fun PvP. It was quite brilliant IMO. Most everyone I know that played DAOC adored Darkness Falls. 20 years later, I've never seen anything quite like it in an MMO, which is a real shame. Probably some of the most fun I've had in an MMO.

  7. I really hope there are some non-pvp areas. I like world pvp and I'm fine with it 90% of the time, but sometimes I just want
to have a chill time and gather some basic materials or grind some mobs without having to constantly fight for my life.

This should be limited to just areas with very basic materials and mobs though, so you still have to go out most of the time.

Also, I feel like if they don't make the starting areas (first couple hours of gameplay) non-pvp, that will turn off a lot of people.
Imagine you're new to mmo's, you start up ashes of creation and within the first half an hour you start getting non-stop corpse camped.
Probably not the kind of first experience you want new players to have.

  8. Definitely agree they need to keep PvE players interested to maintain a healthy population. I'm a PvE focused player, but always choose to play on a PvP server if it is available, because I like the sense of danger it adds to the world. It also helps to encourage PvE players to group up and join a guild, which strengthens the community. Hopefully the corruption system is enough of a deterrent against the more undesirable aspects of PvP, such as ganking low level players.

  9. I think a good Anti-Grief mechanic in and around towns might be an option for a the mayor to hire guards (via taxes). Maybe the more you spend gets you higher level guards? These guards can patrol the grounds and will attack anyone who is corrupted. This would make a cool dynamic between Nodes – one might be very civilized while another is essentially the Wild West. Wouldn't that be crazy to see a Wild West node, just full of red players starting fights with each other, living by some unspoken code haha

  10. I have played albion online for a looong time, its PVE is not a great thing BUT knowing that at any time other party can come to kill you and get your stuff AND your mob farm spot makes it so much better. That shifts the meta too for example you can clear a zone with 4 people but you bring 6 just to be safer in case of an attack. Im guessing (and hoping) AoC brings some of that feeling too. Great videos btw.

  11. Xillin, from the current map, where are thinking of calling home and why?

And for my two cents… In the past pvp players raided and have had no use for or dependency on crafters so killing them had no consequences. Hopefully with AoC they will Need the pve crafters more and not killing them for sport provides an incentive to be more concerned about their reputation.

  12. Yo! I love this video bro. I talk about this all the time. PVE players by far surpass PVP players in MMO's. I think I just heard that BDO is finally adding PVE dungeons trying to get people to come back to the game. Every time I bring this up, I get flamed. People do not want to hear this unfortunately. It is very important to keep talking about though.

  13. Don't stress about the subcount, you're pretty much the best AoC channel out there right now, best discussions and speculations(imo). Also you always show up first or second when I do my daily "ashes of creation" search. Just keep coming up with interesting topics that haven't been talked about.
offtopic: It's kind of painful a little to watch all these aoc videos, because I want the game to be finished already 😀 It's like an endless tease

  14. Pve focused mmorpgs tend to die out quit quickly because they're very static, and grinding as well as dungeon running/boss killing for the 1000th time gets boring. The pvp element brings in the unpredictibility, tension and competetivness this genre needs. Also I have this weird feeling a lot of people are thinking that you will drop your items on death every single time you get killed by another player…. it was clearly stated that ONLY chaotic players with high player-kill count will drop items upon death. It would be nice if people would stop moaning about this so much.
