One thing I like about your videos is your ability to express your views and opinions. As far as what I can actually add to the conversation, it is for Intrepid to add more PvE events and mechanics that promote cooperation over competition… So far, what we have in the game is kind of lackluster. In fact, I can only think of one, and that's node progression… but adding resources for a node's requisition feels bland, and the reward for each node may not be suitable for the class you're playing. Sure, there are a lot of systems not online, but adding systems that rewards kindness like a good karma system (the ability for players to give other players a spendable currency) might help the toxcity.
Gonna go with no. No western PvP centric game has ever lasted, even PvP servers in PvE games are the least populated.
I played ARK survival evolved (PVP official servers) for 6 years it was the most fun i have ever had in a video game. I found friends in other players who fought back agents the server alphas. Under constant threat of being wiped and it happened a lot, we fought through this process learning the game and managed to gain a real foot hold on the server felt like such an achievement we overcame being so under powered we just got whipped. That was in the first 3 months of playing the game. ARK was a Lord of the Flies simulator. and its player base was madly in love with the game and the trill of maybe loosing it all.
Eve Online is a good example (or starting point at least) to go from. They had high security "safe" space and null sec where anything goes. If Ashes can pull off a similar setup and just add to the PvE offerings I think it'll be fine. Eve PvE was lacking imo. Repetitive quests/missions or mining was about it. The PvP side was spot on with holding territory and what not.
