Discover the problem that’s affecting Star Citizen and Ashes of Creation in this video. Find out what’s causing the issues and what can be done to address them.

Hey there, I’m Razor, a retired veteran who’s been following Star Citizen since the original Kickstarter! While I got on board early, I really started diving deep into the game in 2020, and ever since then, I’ve been hooked on the amazing universe that CIG is creating.

I’m not affiliated with Cloud Imperium Games—I’m just a passionate fan who loves the development journey and the gameplay Star Citizen offers. When I’m not exploring the ‘verse, I’m making videos to share my experiences, updates, and tips about the game. It’s an incredible project, and I want to bring others along for the ride. That’s why I founded Legion 214, an org dedicated to building a strong community of players who are ready to explore, fight, trade, and make our mark on the galaxy.

If you’re looking for an active, friendly group to enjoy Star Citizen with, come join us in Legion 214! Whether you’re a seasoned vet or just getting started, there’s a place for you in our ranks.

  1. Nobody asked for fire physics. Nobody asked for Master Modes. Nobody asked for Bathrooms or dirty characters. Chris is directing this game to his vision. He is a mastermind at making single player games, but has questionable experience in making a successful MMO. CIG does not have a physicist, economist, flight expert, material scientist, nor a game master on staff making this game. It's an exercise in spaghetti game design. I'm super concerned that CIG does not have the proper number of coders on staff to make this game as ALL of the features to include the base code needed to run the game. Too much art heavy development and too little game code development has resulted in a building frustration in the development progress of this game. Master Mode is just one of the more recent point frustrations that has become a super divisive point. Letting go of the flight model master coder resulted in publishing Master Modes to cover up poor project management. As a 30k foot view of the project, I'd say that it's possible that new talent doesn't want to rest their carrier development on a game engine that's niche when there are opportunities to work with industry standards like Unreal5. I don't know if CIG is capable of coding this game given the scope and constant shifting features being introduced on a quarterly basis (as it seems). I praise CR for bringing SC to the point we have now, but he really needs to take a step back and decide what this game is supposed to be. Right now it's a tech demo, and a poor demo that's getting worse day by day. Sandy will be a whole new era at CIG. Good or bad – who knows, but it will be different.

  2. Back to the topic of open communication (after writing an answer below). I saw Narcs vid and saw the interview Asmongold did. I feel that the communciation by Intrepid was worse than CIGs. I don''t see MM as a problem. We will see more changes throughout the development and not every change will please everyone. There are about 5 years of development to come and CIG will iterate on many features to make the game work in the end. I see similarities Ashes but the y need there own way of more current communication because what I see is not enough. That is why I have not invested in the game.

  3. I think the problem is that a lot of us backers of these two games are now in our 30s & 40s, and we're starting to realize life is short, and we're simply not getting any younger waiting for CIG/Intrepid to figure all this stuff out. Since backing originally, many of us have gotten 9-5 jobs, gotten married, had kids, etc. and so ultimately, we may just not have the time anymore to really commit to a game like this with all its time sinks to really get anywhere with it.

Especially worrying IMO is the way both developers seem to be actively trying to cater to the PvP vocal minority on social media. A lot of us Dads are really worried that even if these games really have turned a corner and finally release in say 2028, both will just end up being another EVE/ArcheAge clone where the casual PvE players are ganked out of the game, and then after all this time & money spent they'll just go right back to playing Classic WoW or NMS.
