What is Ashes of Creation?

Ashes of Creation is a unique take on the MMO experience. Our world structure is dynamic and built to react to the actions of our players. Cities will rise and fall, their populations based on the history of the world as the players create it. Quests will unlock as these populations gather, their needs grow, and secrets are unlocked. As the world’s NPC structure is established in real time, players will have the ability to destroy what they’ve created, paving the way for new development, new populations, and real change. Political strife and intrigue will play a very real role in the structure of your world. Gone are the days of static worlds, change is here to stay.

Risk Vs Reward
All across Verra, you have the opportunity to experience massive warfare, participate in epic trade caravans, and gather valuable components to craft exquisite items. Not only will your fellow players be your adversaries; the creatures of the land and the very environment itself will pose a constant and fresh challenge. Will you siege castles to become royalty, defeat other guilds to showcase your prowess, shape the marketplace by being a successful trader, or earn renown by developing your artisan crafting skills? This is your story, you tell us!

  1. Narc should be brought to court. The repercution of his baseless claims and straight lies are big in terms of PR and marketing. He should be thankful Steven doesnt want to take him to court.

  2. It's honestly 100% justified for Steven and Intrepid to sue the crap out of Narc. What he did was so intentional and so malicious. I will never watch another one of his videos. He really showed his true colors.

  3. A few questions for anyone who cares to answer.

    1. Steven says in the video that he put in 55 mil into the company. How much of it was from him and how much of it was from the investors and people who bought the alpha keys?

    2. It sounds like funding is an issue for him. If so, why is it that he keeps growing the company while efficiency seems to be something he needs to look into first? It’s been many years. And the game seems to be very barebones. I feel like there might be an issue with efficiency, assuming it’s not a scam.

    3. Also, if funding is an issue, why did he decide to mainly hire in an area that’s so much more expensive than other areas? It’s not hard to work and collaborate remotely, even internationally. It’s completely possible to get talents all around the world involved in this endeavor.

  4. He needs to have a technical specialist on standby for this stuff, because every server system has workers and services. Those have nothing to do with grid-meshing at all. I've done this for 26 years now, and I think this is where confusion comes from. Narc said that the dynamic server-meshing not integrated yet and that's something that Steven himself said a few months ago. He said that it was still undergoing lots of work and would be implemented soon, and I haven't heard him say that it had been implemented yet. Most online game and MMORPG server have management grids that most of us refer to as interest-grids that hand-off, enable, or disable anything not active in those grid boundaries. However, the server-meshing system that has been discussed isn't what he's describing in this interview.

I think this same thing happens with the other stuff as I had a friend that went to the desert looking for that desert scorpion boss from the desert presentation and was bitching because he couldn't find it. I was like, "Look man, that appeared to be some kind of special raid boss or world boss experience. Surely you didn't think that was some wandering mob?" But he said he thought it was some kind of regenerating world boss that was out there for people to gather together to fight. I think this is the reason transparent development can be dangerous because some people literally need you to meticulously explain everything they see to them, in order for them to truly understand what is going on.

  5. Okay.. I love this game. However, I own a freehold and I wish he also said that even though yes you can plant trees, they are bugged so you only get oak wood even after planting a willow etc. Cows turn into plants when you put them into the freehold. Chickens go invisible and you can never harvest them but they take up a spot. Pigs are not yet buyable (node level) can’t test. They are in the game but nothing works as it should. Hopes that it will soon.

  7. This whole thing and the way Steven defended his work and the work of his team just convinced me to pull the trigger on the 250 upgrade to Braver of Worlds pledge level. I am all in once again.

  8. This whole video is accurate as to the downfall of many a game… ping-ponging falsities, biased view points, pre-determined narratives… and the people who make the game suffering… the internet being the internet and acting from a place of not having to deal with any repercussions…

  9. I'm not bothered by broken systems. Even if they're rudamentary systems that should work like inventory and simply looting things in the world. But the player base has become super toxic playing the game in the most dog-eat-dog manner. Like there's a reward or a prise for having the most stuff. People griefing lower levels with no systems in place to prevent 20x level 25's ganking a level 10's caravan, regardless of the fact it's a PVP event, it's toxic and not fun. People training mobs on to other players. People taking advantage of no warmup/cooldown on guild wars to grief unsuspecting guilds killing them even in nodes while afk. Not to mention the high cost of entry to participate along with "Intrepid bucks" for referrals. The game seems like a money grab more than I've seen in a long time. But I'm glad Steven came on to reassure and resell his game to people. If you're looking for a game where you can grief and haze lowbies, this is the game for you.

  10. I love steven. The entire reason i have any faith in ashes is because steven is doing EXACTLY what id do if i had a few million. Hire some hoes to make me a game i wanna play. Period. And thats what hes doing. Making the game HE WANTS. Love it.

  11. This all boils down to dude being upset that the game in Alpha… isnt complete, i dont even play this game nor do i know much about it but this is ridiculous, and for the amount of money MMOs take to create.. Dude way low balled it and himself, he isnt doing anything wrong by trying to gather some funding by having those 250$ packs, people arent owed a playable Alpha, that isnt the industry norm and for people with the money that want to help support the project go for it, all i hope is that it doesnt get Star Citizen level of greedy
