Tables have turned. This will be a fun watch 😀
Been following this game for years I feared things like this would come to light.
I'm glad Narc finally spoke up about this, I think he was holding it back for so long just like most AoC content creators because they were milking the "hype", and I can't really blame them for it.
Once again, Luki was right
Really excited about the future of Ashes, having heaps of fun right now and its shaping up to what we wanted it to be. Been looking forward to a nice social sandbox mmorpg for years and this one is hitting all the right buttons right now, Steven and the team are really quick at fixing the bugs and running ingame events etc.
Phase 3 will have a lot more systems come online which is going to be awesome!
Hope you are enjoying the game too Luki!
so let straight this out…if you buy some1 product, you cant complain about it? this must be some bad joke 🤣
it is shit but its alpfa right. but its taking to long time i think , also theres tons of goldsellers already 😀
You buy pre Alpha game and complain about the game bein unfinished? it was clear you buy the access to test this game.
😂 best Early Access MMO ever.. what the fuck are you talking about? You payed 100+ to test Systems and Report Bugs. Not for getting any kind of finished Game what so ever.
Its good for them that I didnt pay for a game with an empty desert.I would get in my truck and drive there and get my money back one way or the other. They lucked out because I almost bought it. Anything over $10 scammed deserves some act right. Intrepid does not realize there are people who dont bs about their money and will get it no matter what it takes, due to the principal of a man thinking he can take from men like myself. Those people should smile today knowing I didnt pay for the bs,or I would be visiting.
A game director that uses as an argument "for your mental health" is soo low.
Yeah followed the games development for years and was so excited for Alpha 2, played it for a day and yeah.. I had questions.. my first one was "Why does this look like a 10 year old game not the game being showed in the monthly dev logs?" I got hit with the "It's alpha" ok.. well.. why does the game feel like I'm playing Runescape? Why is the UI not polished or complete? Why do the mounts not have animations? "it's alpha bro" so yeah.. couldn't play for more than a day, it's grindy, ugly, controls almost as bad as trying to play final fantasy xi in 2024, and the 'little' things like missing animations, icons that all look identical cause they're placeholders, UI elements that look like I did them in Paint, just made me realize not ONE SINGLE PICE of this game was polished or finalized, and what was being shown in dev logs was.. I dunno what that was, it was playable.. so it wasn't a concept.. but yeah, it had animations, great UI, great assets, particles, weather, questing.. and then what we got was Runescape with less gameplay. shrugs
Thanks Larger Peen we love you
I want to know PirateSoftware's opinion of this…
The only thing i see is a kid crying because they paied 100e for a game that is noit finished, good job girl, that's the point of kick starter and alpha.
Rage bait is boring.
I love you Luki soooooo Much You're the best Great video
Hi Luki, I wanted to leave a comment letting you know that Ashes is still in development, and that Alpha Two will be actively improving and releasing content/features for testing over the course of this year. I responded to Narc's video on our subreddit, but am happy to address any thoughts or concerns you may have in this thread also.
Everything I see from this game makes me think it is a medieval star citizen
the problem isn't him buying a game in alpha and complaining its unfinished. It's the company lieing showing things that aren't actually in the game as if they are in the video updates.
Life lesson. Do not spend $500 to access an unfinished product, which you are not allowed to see until you pay the $500, that is also not refundable, and is being sold by somebody with absolutely no track record or portfolio of work in that products category. That is the reality of what happened here. It's not even a scam, because it was so obvious from the start.
this game is kind of a stinker. It feels like a game built for big content creators to command armies of their followers while the rest of the player base does nothing.
I still have my Beta 1 key for 100$ from Kickstarter. so, I'm waiting. XD
I subbed to you when they first released Alpha 1 (masterchiefsteve), I too am pissed about the $500 I spent on this project. Crazy how it looks worse now and how it has completely changed. I literally was playing phase 1 and I couldn't believe how bad the game looked. I mean the dialogue boxes with NPCs felt like I was playing Runescape. I mean obviously it's unfinished but it is way different than what was portrayed and they are changing their direction a lot. It has also been 4 freaking years since we started testing this game.
Alpha 1 was so rich and gave me the biggest amount of hope for an mmorpg since I played WoW for the first time 18 years ago.
Hearing the valheim music does make me want to play valheim again lol.
Lol you guys put like 500 Usd inside a pre pre pre game and do no lifeing in it and feel like completely lost to loose 500 Usd. I feel sorry for you guys. Get into real life invest into stocks, crypto, work and realize you can loose so much more. You state of video is complete Bullshit.
Really great video. This makes me really mad too. In real life I am Quality Assurance Engineer. One of the first things they teach you in Quality Assurance is that quality is purely customer satisfaction. On Quality Delivery is just as important as On Time Delivery and Quality is defined by the customer. It is meeting their needs and satisfying their desires. The thing that has always bothered me about Steven is that he has always approached this game with a pseudo customer centric approach. He came in and defined what quality meant for the customer, said that he was going to do this thing and has made no adjustments to match his customer base. He defined a high quality product rather than letting his customer basis do so. It's the difference in between a game like Path of Exile 2 and a game like Concord. One has infinite potential regularly changes core design elements to better match their customer basis and the other misread their customer base so badly they cancelled the game days after release.
I agree with you and Narc, I don't think AOC will succeed. I think they missed the mark. They are not defining quality correctly and I think their lack of capability to meet On Time Delivery promises will lead to them release a game that the customer base will no longer be interested in. One of the tell tale signs is looking at their original base. How many OG people are still around? How many OG people are still committed? It is absolutely unacceptable that the project that was promised to be delivered after four years of development will take so long that most of the original kickstarters will likely have moved on. We are approaching over a decade development time and people can change a lot over that length of time. How many of these people will actually be interested in planning an MMO like Ashes? I think the Niche is becoming smaller and Steven is slowly dragging out the death of this game.
Few things I picked up and feel differently about.
– Scam I feel is wrong word to use here. Scummy practice, sure, but scam, I don't see it.
– Every time you pay for game that is not yet fully released with access to game not yet released, aka gold release, you pay to test the game. Be it alpha, beta, early access or whatever else. You are paying to test the game where company should pay to have game tested. In some cases it makes sense (it can be expensive to have your own QA team and it's also time consuming to test every aspect and then re-test failure points so it helps if you can offload that to people who have time and are willing to do that and even pay to do so themselves, it's weird how people keep paying for that and I say that while having done that myself as well, and probably will do so in future as well while fully knowing how very weird that is)
– I wonder if they had to scale back many many features, graphical and otherwise, to make the game actually run in any manner with the amount of testers alpha2 brought? Just wondering out loud. Though if that's the case they really should bring that to light rather than just sit on it.
– It's good to view release schedule as something that may have a date somewhere 15-25 years from the start of development. Scale already makes it difficult, game being MMO introduces another layer of difficulties and completely new studio at helm with no publisher backing means that they have to (had to in this case) develope tooling for the game development by themselves (with big project like this you're not just going to develop it with IDE, 3d sculptor, 3d modeler, painting tool for textures, and game engine, you want to have extra tooling to make certain things easier to develope). My prediction with this and Star Citizen is that release is happening somewhere closer to 2035, right after Arma4, and I'll stick to it until I actually see release happen.
In any case it's sad to see how badly things are going for the game and how badly it's being presented (marketing speel vs. how it actually looks like). For longest time it looked like MMO I might actually like. Big thing for me is character development in the MMO and currently popular MMO's just don't have that to a point where I'd be happy about it.
Just my two cents.
Loved hearing comments on it. Now going to go watch Narcs video without extra comments to give him some attention too as for some reason Youtube didn't recommend his video for me which is unusual.
This is STAR CITIZEN all over again. I guess they took that as an example on how to scam?
I don't go here but I feel like the tipoff this was a scam was the hundred dollar + pricetag to be an unpaid alpha tester for a subscription based game.
Subbed because you're cute ngl 😏
I empathize with you as a gamer, but as an adult, I just can't relate to people paying into these games any more. The last decade has produced more than enough evidence that investing in these projects is an excellent way to get scammed out of your money by some 4 year finance major with a reddit account and a plan.
It’s honestly sad to see how little some people understand the term “True Alpha.” Newsflash: you’re testing a broken game so the devs can iron out the bugs and refine the systems. That’s literally what alpha means. But instead of embracing the process, you jump in, see an unfinished product (shocking, right?), and start wailing like someone stole your pacifier.
Steven Sharif has said it hundreds of times in his videos—“These are early concepts, subject to change.” Yet here you are, ignoring that and acting surprised when things aren’t polished. The real kicker? It’s not even about the bugs or the systems; you found something you didn’t like, demanded it be changed, and when the devs said, “No, that’s staying,” you threw a tantrum like a giant adult child.
Maybe take a moment to breathe, step back, and realize this isn’t your personal custom-order MMO. It’s an alpha. It’s a concept. Get over it.
people who eat crap for a living, love doing so. They will defend their choices and right to ingest feces. You cannot help them, or talk sense into them.
Let them feast.
I don't think it's a scam but it's definitely very bad managed, Steven was never a game developer, he made the company with just a few staff and on the earlier years failed very badly until he realized it need more people involved in the project… I Honestly think he will give up eventually on making the game, not because he wanted to scam people but because there are better games like what he wanted coming out like Archeage Chronicles (Since he started Ashes because he wanted to make an Archeage 2)
The Game is a joke.. i am sad that so many lost there money, why would this indi small company ever do something that i big studio can't. Steven iis talking BS wake up all.
Yes, welcome to the open development world of an alpha.
StarCitizen will welcome you into their loving Alpha gaming world.
Thanks for sharing such valuable information! Just a quick off-topic question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?
