In Ashes of Creation Peace is Temporary

Hey everyone!
I just wanted to discuss some interesting dynamics on the Lyneth server and why I think what has happened recently will happen more often going forward.

Player dynamics make for interesting player loops, and the best part of it is no server is the same.

A link to @Narc ‘s videos that I took clips from can be found here:

  1. Pretty sure node sieges will have a cap to participants (iirc was 250 v 250, maybe 500 v 500 at most) if it's like castle sieges. So having 2k+ people will still be an advantage (more talent and ressources to pull from), but a smaller, elite team can still crush.

  2. Seeing how each server evolves after release. Steven doesn't want to shut down servers, but I can see where toxicity can literally drive away the player base until it is a ghost town.
I think Intrepid needs to take a page from POE and start a set of fresh servers every 6 months. Not many, just a few, and let people find their comfort zone.

  3. Good video. Time for constructive criticism. You elaborated nicely on comments, but at times it almost became rambling. You have good insight and good knowledge of current events. You show both sides of the situation. Lay off the elaboration on the ideas of what nodes are going to do. Because it comes off as a weird attempt at manipulation. I enjoyed the video. I cannot wait for more but these are just constructive criticisms.

Ps. Wish Vyra had this commentary

  4. You've got it wrong – I was an inside man on the EPH thing and EPH was being toxic AF by spawn camping people. Sure you can play the game that way, but we as a server and chose to absolutely wipe them off the map to the point they all dropped guild because they couldn't move around the server without being destroyed. So then they started to abuse the war scroll bug, so we wiped them off the map again. This time since wars weren't permanent we taught them that lesson again and then let it go.

  5. ive had no bad run ins with pirates its the small guilds that piss me off like a lv 25 in the dynasty guild pulling mobs off lv 13s in a mob lv 15 spot and not letting anyone farm… stuff like that happens alot more then pirates picking a fight for no reason

  6. It’s all alpha. The game, guilds, people, skills. The best thing we get to see how it all changes. The size of the map will change. I cannot wait to see how it changes

  7. Good point about the current mechanics dictatoring the pvp levels. I just hope that later on the game doesn't just rely on those macro-level systems (node wars, seiges, vassals etc) to drive all the pvp.
Wpvp is the best pvp there is.
    (Caravans, I know.. but still).

  8. I think I'd actually like guilds to be same-race only. Imagine the dominant guild on the server, a powerful guild of Empyreans.. vs a rag tag alliance forming the resistance.
Or even being vassaled by a huge Orc guild, like living in the Shire after losing LotR.
Sounds extreme but I don't see much downside tbh

  9. Don't give Narc more of a platform. . . The guy is mean-spirited, and can't accept constructive criticism. A year or so ago he was using the R (handicapped) slur repeatedly in his videos and got called out for it by a viewer. He then proceeded to make an entire video belittling the person that called him out. And then just kept dropping the R. Completely insensitive, and I don't know how the Ashes developers didn't say anything about it since he attacked the viewer based on stuff they said in the Ashes forums. Anyway yeah — good vid but hate it when people reference and legitimize Narc.

  10. Btw, Steven said on Thor's stream interview their aim is for 10K CCU, but their server meshing can go much higher. If they get servers to where it can do 50K CCU or beyond, a guild like Thor's is just another superpower in a sea of superpowers. There is no way of preventing people from being coerced to work with each other. Thor is just an example of things to come. In EVE most of the PVErs were inside larger PVP alliances cause the guys fighting to keep their "borders safe" made the game safer for them to grind in without being ganked on by enemy players. It's just human nature in the end. That's emergent social gameplay.

  11. One thing with multiple guild working together vs one single large guild is that the multi-guilds have a much higher chance of breaking up, and causing more 'content' to interact with. 1 Giant guild has the risk of killing the server if it break up and/or it take over everything. I think that's the main difference, imo.

  12. The drama was only lagging because people were busy leveling. The drama was guaranteed to happen after certain groups reached level cap and got gear. I know I love it and I bet everything that Steven is loving it as well 🙂 As for the "misunderstanding" on Vyra (where I reside) the real issue wasn't about the perceived exploit. The real drama and hate of EPH has been a direct result of EPH behavior, starting with their blatant spawn camping during said war. It was was not originally all of Vrya vs EPH. It became that because they have behaved like the Dbags their reputation suggested they were. Not all of them, of course. I mean Doc Burns is confusingly part of EPH, but Alec and his cronies have 100% lived up to their dbag rep. We don't mind them coming over though. It's been great fun watching them lose 20 wars a day 🙂 Lots of questions were posed way back when about whether a sweaty gankbot guild would be able to run or ruin a server. Vyra is proving that The Community has the means to do something about them. Will they have influence? Of course they will. They sure as hell won't be dominating or controlling it though. It's the game playing out as intended – Reputation matters, especially guild reputation. Politics matter. Drama is intended. Frequent war is intended. ALLL of the goodness that we have been waiting for. Just another example of Intrepid delivering on their intent/promises 😉

  13. Vyra isn't really RP. Take for instance Genesis 1 of the largest guilds on the server; I belong to Genesis and I'm not an RPer, I haven't met an RPer in the guild. The only RPers I've seen are Balon Talon Trading (Loreforged's guild) and they're not all RPers.
