  1. The fact that you only mention world of warcraft, lets the audience know, that you don't know what you are talking about. Steven Sharif started this project on the basis of Lineage 2 and Runescape, not world of warcraft. That is the main reason Ashes of Creation looks like it does.

  2. Hate to be a doomer…this looks terrible for the resources that have put in. Maybe I just hate the unreal engine look…but it feels so generic. So boring. WoW gives you more artistic diversity in the first 5 minutes upon logging in for the first time.

This feels like a game targeted at MMO players…which is fine….but it will never kill WoW if its purely horizontal in nature.

Bloat is killer for these studios. They promise way too much…and then deliver on 50% of it.

  3. idk why but ashes looks so bad, the lighting is awful, the animations look janky, the character models are appalling, the UI looks gross, and a lot of the gameplay mechanics sound super unfun or only for sweats and incels. i hope it is all these things and the sweats and incels will flock to it and leave good games so we can stop seeing them farm for attention in worldchat

  4. As someone heavily invested in L2 and Archeage back in the day, the AoC missed the mark by about 5 years for me. I just don't see myself playing it anymore, especially when it still takes like 3 years to come out. I just don't see the game being fun for anyone who doesn't treat it as a secondary job.

  5. Im tired of early access this early that beta this beta that. Ill play the game when it comes out. Absolutely ridiculous the game has taken over 10 years to create. Sure, they needed money to keep going, but 10 years in technology is a long ass time. 10 years go by and their game is immediately out dated. They probbaly have to do a refresh on the engine that runs the game once a year since stuff is always improving

  6. Ashes might be a good game, but it wont even compete with WoW let alone kill it. It's an entirely different category of MMO, more like Eve, Archeage, Lineage or Albion Online.

  7. Ashes is such a scam. Just list every promise the developer has made since AoC's inception and Kickstarter and see how many have been fulfilled. People are huffing pure copium when they can't look at the facts.

  8. new Sub here 😉 , i want to add my 2 cent on your video , yes Game is in production for 7 years but count realisticly 3 years Real Production as you cant see the First 4 years are Post Production , getting the Staff location etc.. etc … About your Shop info , nobody force anyone to buy cosmetic pack as Steven said it many times what ever you can buy in the shop can be found in the game , Same as funding of the game he said it also many many Times dont purchase the Alpha if you think it is a Game wait until game is released as i fund the game with my Own money . i see people people complaining bout beeing a scam as there is not a lot done in the 7 years , nobody knows what they have been doin behind the scene maybe other biomes are rdy either way it is all wait and see as Alpha 2 is all about Networking , and again i say it to the people Watching your video DO NOT PURCHASE THE ALPHA unless you rdy to get into a bugged Game with here and there Server wipe .. and are ready to report bugs …

    Great video @ebonhardt

  9. Steven was miss using company funds an is still miss using funds that's why he's trying to cash grab for this alpha. Not to mention he's got hundreds of thousands in taxes to pay the irs

Even when he played ArcheAge he was a scammer ingame … what do u think he's doing rn

  10. I don't think AoC will even make a dent in the landscape but I don't think for a second that it's a scam. It kind of hits the same space as Star Citizen: Scummy funding, gouging the believers, endless delays coupled with endless feature creep, but development leadership that absolutely believe in what they're doing.

I will say that no matter what future product your talking about, if the developers stop believing the sales pitch it becomes a scam.

  11. If the alpha2 was a demo 3 months into development I could argue otherwise,
But all they have proven in 8 years is that they don't have the development capability.

It doesn't matter if you take 20 years to make a good game if it was any other genre,
But live service MMO is different story

Even if they release the game at some point in the future,
They would take 10 years to make a dlc with 3 week content at this speed.

And funding the way with a sub to play model in an already niche game is just talking unicorns
If Steven didn't know back in 2017, he sure knows now that what he promised is impossible
and not mentioning it makes it a scam.
