  1. I was a huge doubter but Steven really is good at articulating things – I'm excited for the game and its clear they aren't setting false expectations for timelines – I just hope that feature creep doesn't put the game in trouble.

  2. Group membership is null when you can just have as many sub guilds as you want. No one will ever choose that option. So you will have a massive guild with 20 sub guilds all have choosing the "better passive" option.

  3. With regards to Region locking: I completely agree with pricing concerns but it does lock players out from being able to play with international friends. For example, I have friends in Canada but live in EU. That would require me to pay for 2 subs at a high rate. I advocate for an introduction of price tiers for regions in comparable economies. e.g. NA and EU pay comparable sub prices and are thus grouped together. That would eliminate any concern over bot abuse, and even serve to strengthen detection of fraudulent accounts as the banable activities would likely crop up in multiple locations in similar fashions. I.e. More correlated fraudulent data and thus better data analysis.

  4. Can i get a box price instead of a subscription and micro transactions? I'd rather have a one time fee for the full game than pay a monthly fee forever for part of the game. If you're really about giving people flexibility to afford the game then give us the option to pay for it our own way.

  5. as a Mage main in WoW who mainly do PVP try to sell me on ashes of creation
all i want in a MMORPG: good pvp(or in wow´s case good enough but far from perfect) becuase PVP is the real endgame and raiding get boring over time easy but this can easy be its own moba that Moba studios is too scared to make(more then 4-5 abilities)

so im kinda using the MMORPG game´s PVP modes as my equal to Mobas becuase i prefer smaller roster of characters/classes with a bigger Kit of abilities over a insane bigger roster but alot small kit of abilities but also kinda dont wanna use alot of my time on grinding lvls and all the way to finnaly do the thing i wanted: PVP but with more than 3-4 abilities that is always on cooldown

  6. Farming Asmon is definitely a design issue.
Spawn location after character creation should always be a non-combat zone to allow for settings and familiarizing with the UI. (Or at least have strong guard NPCs.)

  7. Star Wars Galaxies had a Forced PVP System that was essentially Opt-In, since you were opening yourself up to the potential of PVP if you joined the Empire or the Rebellion!

  8. Only people who do not understand pvp call pvp griefing. Griefing is killing the same person over and over again, preventing them from playing, harassing them and all the other things Steven mentions, that behaviour is and should always be bannable by ToS. Great interview, thanks guys!

  9. I like it when people have direct conversations and THEN formulate opinions as opposed to creating a bunch of unproven rumours because you didn't like the latest patch notes or dev logs.

I was always looking forward to Ashes of Creation, for years now, i was always into player driven games, i lost months in Face of Mankind
But now seeing Thor not only invested in it himself but having open convo with Steve about it is even better of a recommendation

  10. After all these years, Steven should really get himself a good mic for us snowflakey ears owners.. Jokes aside, great interview, I plan to jump into the alpha this weekend for the first time. Excited.

  11. I rly want to play this game, but i feel like the hype it too early. Now we are hyped, but have to wait 6 months for the release, and it is going to be hard to keep the hype going for 6 months…

  12. "fun experience"…while he describes a monopoly for weeks and month from one huge guild over core gameplay elements and locking other players out of it, until the entire server comes together in there hate for that one guild…doesnt sound healthy to me.

  13. I love Steven and the rest of the team treat the community. They have fun, do interviews, spawn in boss mobs, do RP events. This is what Blizz used to do back in the day, when they cared about the community.

  14. I'm really not an MMO guy, but this was fascinating. MMOs as a product are so large and complex, and its really interesting watching this, and also watching you play the alpha on stream and comment on on the progress

  15. I…. think I played MMOs wrong. I always loved the the idea of MMOs but never got into the "Meta" (ie guilds, politics and all that) and now I feel like… that's where the game is actually at?

So now I wonder how much time needs to be committed to be a "valuable" contributor for a guild? Would love to hear anyone's experience on this.

  16. about the Nodes different ways of getting into mayor status, i have the worry that in all of the mentioned systems it will still be a popularity contest:

Economic bid : send the money to the "person" so they can be mayor
Quest driven : Deter other ppl from acomplishing the quest so one person can dominate and monopilize the quest areas
Combat : fill the slots with your Clan and throw battles for the "person" you want to win to begin with

they are gonna have an uphill battle to fight against that.

  17. i was watching the stream live and he kept making steven wait 2 min ad breaks every 10 min damn that was so distespectful, who has a guest over and makes him wait 2 min ad break, i felt 2nd hand embarassement watching it. How about you turn off or reduce your ads when you have a guest on…?

  18. (I believe) the development team has given players the choice to opt in/out of open world pvp until lvl 5 in the ptr. If players want to they can, if they don't want to they don't have to. I imagine pvp griefing will always be a bannable offense (as well as other forms of griefing). Now, if you are a victim of pvp griefing and/or don't want any risk of potentially experiencing pvp griefing there is an (additional) way to protect yourself up to lvl 5. Now, if you'd like to opt in to open world pvp anywhere, you have the

option to do so up to lvl 5. There are factors to this feature that seem reasonable, objective, and impartial to me.💗😄🌄💚
