Read more about Ashes of Creation ➜ https://ashesofcreation.mgn.tv

The Ashes of Creation Riverlands map is 55sqkm. But What exactly does this mean, and how big is this in comparison to other MMORPGs out in the world? Today we are putting the Alpha 2 map up against the World of Warcraft Kalimdor map to see how big The Kaelar Riverlands truely is!

Ashes of Creation is a unique take on the MMORPG experience. Our world structure is dynamic, and built to react to your actions. Cities will rise and fall as you shape the world of Verra. Quests and secrets will unlock as populations gather and their needs grow. As the world’s NPC structure is established in real-time, you will have the ability to destroy what’s been created, paving the way for new developments, populations, and change. Political strife and intrigue will play a very real role in the structure of your experience. Gone are the days of static worlds; change is here to stay!

  1. My worry is how are they ever going to complete all these areas for a launch? Even if you said 2 years a biome or even just 1 thats over 10 years to complete, they are still atleast a year probably 2 from finishing this first one.

  2. I didn't level much during my time in the alpha test, because I was too busy just wandering around and feeling the world. Some of the vistas are just breathtaking. The kind of game where you literally can just get lost in it.

  4. "I had to pay $15 to Blizzard to make this content for you guys"

Since quitting WoW in May, I'm done with Blizzard products because they are no longer created with the gamer in mind. Everything is designed with an "investor first" mentality that sucks too much joy from the game. I know every game needs to rake in some profits, but Blizzard is taking it to the extreme and it's killing their company in the long run.

  5. Vera is simply too big. In theory, it sounds impressive, but in practice, it results in a lot of empty or generic content, with too much space for too few players to create the community feel that people want to get out of AoC.

  6. That is one of the things where I think the feel of the game is going to be different on Live compared to Alpha2, particularly in the levelling experience. Right now we have over 400 players per node (theoretically). When the game goes live that will be less than 120 (again theoretically), and with that more POIs as well obviously.

Competition for everything will decline and everything will be less intense and confused. At non-peak times, you are very likely going to get a grind spot to yourself, particularly in-node. And presumably the gatherers are going to be a lot happier. It is difficult to wrap your head around the more subtle changes however, maybe people are going to have to get a group in-node before setting out, instead of spamming global when you get where you want to be.

  7. If (at most) 10% of the intended landmass can hold 30% of the intended player cap, I wonder if 100% of the landmass (disregarding the oceans) can hold more than the intended player cap…

  8. I’m confused. Your WoW character only got to Tanaris. How is that 2/3 of Kalimdor?

Edit: I missed the part where you said you started outside of Orgrimmar and went south. I thought you went North from the bottom.

Still doesn’t excuse you from pronouncing it Kalmidor 😂

  9. I wasn't expecting such a big map when I entered the Alpha. It was impressive, but also scary. I really hope they are able to fill all that with interesting vistas, level spots and nice quests. At the moment, not even the one zone is nearly finished. In my opinion, the map is a bit too large. But we will see.

  10. People are shocked Ashes could take so long even with the complete overhaul going with UE5 and its because the game is going to be 10x if not larger than almost any mmo people have played before. Most games with dreams like ashes would give us 1 biome at a time and make the rest DLC content that comes out 6 months to a year later

  11. I haven't played a new MMO since wow. Released. But this one is definitely ticking all the boxes. Other than the PVP aspect, I'm on board. Still concerned about controller support and APM requirements.
