Ashes of creation delayed their alpha again and Steven Sharif, the creative director decided to do the unthinkable…I can’t believe he did this.

The fact I even have to clarify that this is satire and sarcasm is actually depressing. Some people talking about clickbait and how trash of a person I am….It's a joke guys
Well put
looks good the new killwow
I hate that I couldnt tell you were being sarcastic until 50 seconds in xD lol
"Facts"….
As an offtopic trivia I'm a bit suspicious if this game will ever materialize, I was just looking trough their videos and they usually just have like a bunch of designers and marketers hyping their game in their updates and rarely ever a programmer. To me this is a bit of red flag, because most successful classics were spearheaded by programmers. Ultima Online: Richard Garriot Programmer since 12 yo or something, Diablo: the first one was fully programmed by David Breavik (the creator of Diablo), Minecraft: Notch, etc, there are more. And "designers" and "marketers" usually are behind the big scams we have seen around, for instance: Start Citzen 400M dollar scam, Chronicles of Elyria by designer & marketer Capian. So I don't know how much of an actual game they will materialize really…
I really like how independent ashes of creation is and how a gamer is creating his own vision of a game in response to all the other companies trying to ruin the genre with p2w. But, now that I know he gives his own opinion and isn't a robot acting exactly how I think he should, I can no longer support this game or the people behind it. Not until everyone behind it thinks and acts exactly as I think they should. I also think Steven should not only apologize for his conduct as a professional professional, but for his staff as well for anything they might think or do that I don't agree with in the future.
I just
realized that the comparison between Elon and Steven couldn't be more accurate 😀
I was like wtf am i too drunk to understand why Kira is mad about this. And then realized, yes, i am too drunk.
If I remember correctly AoC is using AWS. My guess is that's the only reason they apologized… big brother came knocking.
Asmongold brought me here
xD
Pay to work for us LOL what a clowns.
9min in did not figure out point of video, keep that post from discord to call him out for same thing in 2077 when game releases.
Pure gold. You make me laugh when i needed it, thanks.
honestly, for some games i would rather get rid of the NDA in a state that they are not precisely happy with, then show the community what kind of work we are throwing at it, and people can actually see the game evolve online. i have seen this happen with multiple games i have been following since alpha, and i would rather have an alpha i can play/stream with the bugs and such then not being allowed to show it at all.
If Steven is shit talking bad game design I think I'm okay with that XD
Imagine paying $350 to play a broken game and it gets delayed because a 15 year old game is getting re-released. This excuse is idiotic. It is simply too stupid to be true. Intrepid has alpha testers locked in. People who played $350 (!) to play the alpha. "We don't want people to choose"… bruh, they already chose. The reality is that AoC is a mess. A subscription-based MMO that you buy and also has an itemshop (but no p2w "we promise"). Yeah, sure. They charge $350 for this product. It's an alpha only in legal terms (meaning it's legally harder to get a refund). If they feel comfortable putting that price up, it's a product. They delayed a release of a product that costs $350. If it was an alpha and you're insecure about it, don't sell it. I don't care he said "don't buy it". You wouldn't have to tell people to not buy it if you hadn't put that price on it in the first place. You do not get positive PR for inventing a problem and then telling us a solution. The problem still exists.
Back in the day, an alpha wasn't judged because it wasn't sold. A product that is being sold. Read up on the Diablo 1 beta test – Blizz made the call they need beta testers. People sent e-mails and got to beta test the game. They didn't have to PAY to do a JOB.
I will judge Ashes of Creations alpha as a game that has a $350 asking price. Remember how we lost our collective bowels when the new NBA game was gonna be $70? Now imagine that, but it is $350 instead. That GAME better be good. If they do not want it judged as $350 GAME, they should not charge for it.
It's hypocritical to criticize others for caring about an opinion on a game, since you just made a video criticizing people's opinion of a comment. You wouldn't be talking about drama if you followed your own advice.
maybe people are simply shocked by Steven's ability to even have, let alone express, an opinion as a normal human being considering we're so used to evil CEOs being robots à la Zuckerberg or, to quote this content creator, hell goblins like Bobby Kotick
"This is actually tolerable" lol
I think you are underestimating the WoW players interested in the game. A lot of us are old-school MMO players who preferred the earlier expansion's game philosophy relating to the community and world aspects of the game. We have been alienated almost entirely as the game progressed. Ashes from my perspective is the culmination of all the sweaty nerd dreams of what I truly wanted out of wow.. plopped down in front of me neatly packaged in a fresh more modern game. I always wanted housing, I always wanted professions to truly matter, I always loved the player driven content like world pvp and guild events.. and wanted the game to be more conducive to those activities. Player shops.. limited resources.. fishing boats.. I want that.
I have mentioned this elsewhere.. but I feel like the "hardcore raider" wow players would be the ones that wouldn't be interested in the game. They won't like how slowly paced leveling and gearing is, they wont like the "gating" of raid content.. they won't care about the nodes or community aspects.. They won't last long if at all. That is a very small portion of the wow community as a whole though, and largely wouldn't be the ones looking at ashes to begin with.. they are already happy with their expert level frogger raiding. The rest of us want that slow grind with risk and reward.
