"Should you care?" It's literally the only mmorpg with true potential, the rest are dogshit
litteraly every other mmo out there right now is pure DS. Can't wait to be able to play it 24/7 not just on weekends :D! HYPE
Theres a lot of discourse around this game, and it's interesting. I've honestly sat in the kind of scammy camp for a long time, but the Alpha was a little further along than I thought and I'm kind of changing my tune just a bit. But I still wonder if this game will be able to capture an audience large enough to thrive after "launch" which maybe or may not be sometime in the next five years. This feels more like a modernization of MMO philosophies of the early 2000, and honestly thats basically what WOW classic is around for.
I don't see people sticking it through long term. Taking 3 months to get to level cap, no instanced content, not being able to turn off PVP flagging all together, grindy weapon and spell leveling and systems, no fast travel….Even the way the Node system works is going to encourage "super guilds". So who plays this game? Classic players have classic, Retail players will hate it, FFXIV players won't even think about it, no heavy story content to sway Guild Wars 2 Players, SWTOR players won't leave SWTOR ever, and ESO players are kind of a mix of FFXIV and GW2 Players. Maybe I'm wrong but unless the add a bunch of stuff their core fan base hates on principal they're going to have a really hard time attracting and keeping players. That very well could be the point of launching with so much stuff though. If they launch with a complete game no waiting for patches to add the content than if they have a smaller player base they'll have more to do and so there won't be a lot of pressure on them to create loads of content patches.
It would be O…K… if you pay for guaranteed access to beta and the rest of testers would be picked up by devs or a lotery. So you know… VIP ticket and standart ticket…maybe?
This game looks like a scam lol
u wanna know what else is cheeky? NOT PLAYING ASHES OF CREATION!!!!
wait until your paying once again for the Beta lol
LETS GOOOOOO! I feel nostalgic like when WoW was in alpha
Listen Goblin, I know you will read this because you read all the comments. You have been very right and very wrong on many mmo dramas. This is one of the times you are wrong. Listen to me, If you do not buy the alpha and cover it on your channel you will miss out on what could be the biggest boost to your viewership ever. Another thing, people are getting sick of the negative takes. Its ez clicks but brother if you want long term loyal subs stop it. I know you love mmo's so play this awesome new mmo that is a rare return to form. I promise you will be glad you did.
Here's what I suggest. Many won't follow the advice as they are sycophants or too goodwilled. If you paid to get into this alpha, DON'T PROVIDE FEEDBACK OR BUGS. This is typically a paid role for an employee. You are in essence doing someones job for free and/or preventing a potential job from being created.
AoC should be paying for testing, not getting it for free.
Buying keys to the alpha you get access to all later alpha and beta stages. Once the game releases you also get several months of “free” game subscriptions. These are included in the price of the access. So if you are actually going to be playing the game once it’s out you get rewarded for contributing to the testing.
ive seen a lot of ppl get stuff wrong about AoC alpha2, but ive never before seen someone get something wrong about everything they say
also, how are you supposedly a big mmo games content creator and dont know that basically every KS/indie game for the last what, 10-15 years have allowed people to buy into alpha?
This looks like a poor mans version of Throne and Liberty..
"To finally play Ashes of Creation"
No. You're not. You cannot.
This is not a game, it's not AoC. You're not "Playing" anything. you're testing servers, systems, and stability. You're not playing. THis is not a game.
'Tank'
What a class name.
Ambition is admirable until it becomes overconfidence.
people who pay to play an ALPHA, and complaining about the games ALPHA state is ridiculous. Know why I wouldnt do this.. because alphas are always shitty. Its not the dev's screwing you.. it is them providing suckers with the opportunity to lose money.
I'm hoping for the RIOT MMO and maybe the Ghost MMO from Ghostcrawler and the Lord of the Rings MMO from Amazon.
Be sure you understand that this is a testing phase, and it is not the complete polished game.
Remember… Not play… You are buying to TEST a very early version of the game.
I actually totally understand why Stephen chose to charge such high prices for alpha access. It's because he said himself that he doesn't want the general public to be buying into the alpha of this game. The ONLY people stephen wants in the alpha testing phases are content creators and in house testers and family members.
There are 2 sides to every coin and early access to a videogame is no different.
Sure you might be able to try out an early version of the game and get it for a discounted price (normally)
HOWEVER
When games get put into early access on steam and they're buggy due to being EARLY ACCESS people mass post negative reviews for that early access game because it has bugs.
People form their first impressions of a game the moment that they get their hands on it, and Stephen knows this and doesn't want the normal playerbase for the game to play an unfinished version of it. Instead content creators can make videos about the most recent changes to the game and let their viewers know that the games coming along.
