  1. You can farm item drops from killing Goblins and Minotaurs. Low drop rate, but plenty of significant upgrades including set gear.
Also, regarding the main story line, the game will have a pretty deep and expansive story quest line and plenty of side quests, they just haven't included them in the Alpha. When the game releases, you should be getting around 70% of your exp from doing quests and the rest is from grinding.

  2. Stupid to make it so you cant solo mobs…you should have group content and solo content, for people that play a few hours a day then it sucks you gonna spend half the time looking for people to do some quests, I don't agree on quests markers, read the quest and look for what you have to do…tired of automatic "accept, kill marked guy, return" bs, bad today in 2024, main quest storyline is nothing important…vanilla wow did not had a main quest storyline and it was np.

  3. The game is in a slightly disappointing state, however I feel like most of your criticism is because you are a wow player and the mechanics you are used to are related to casual gameplay.

    Criticism like loot

That the NPCs have the mission sign on their heads etc etc

This is not wow and I hope it never will be, the game is aimed at making the player think, analyze and dedicate themselves. It is not aimed at doing everything with 1 click nor for everything to be 100% obvious,

Having said the above, the game looks delayed, at least it has 2-3 years left to be what it promises

  4. I think corruption kills the game for me. I like world pvp and this system + the death penalties in general will disincentive world pvp. It’s going to be sheepish cowards and griefer zergs only.

  5. I am immediately turned off by the idea of requiring a group for just main questing. lol I don't mind group content but if EVERYTHING pretty much requires a group, I am not gonna enjoy it. I know it is still in Alpha though so maybe that will change

  6. They're holding the lore/story close to their sleeves atm, def not for this stage of alpha.

As for gear, its by design that they only drop completed item like 2-4% of the time. They want most of the gear to come from crafting. At low level though you can just sell glint or gathered materials to NPCs and buy their stuff. You should have enough cash way before lvl 6 to get the copper weapon.

  7. Too many people think that every game has to cater to them. (I play a few hours a day, so make leveling fast; or I play a few hours a day, so make the game solo; I don't have to look for a group.) Steven clearly stated his vision of the game with long leveling, group play, and open-world PvP. All of which I like, and I hope it stays this way. I liked what Steven said: "We are not focusing on competing with games like WoW; they have a very different approach to gameplay. We will have PvE content, but it's not our intention to make it better than those games." This is a game for long grinds, no hand-holding, and PvX enjoyers. There are many alternatives if that's not your cup of tea.

  8. I'll start paying more attention to this game when the node wars start. Until then, why bother?

PvE farming in any game no matter how new is about as fun as playing a WoW dungeon for the 1000th time in an expansion that's been out nearly a year.

  9. As much as im curious about the game, and i believe this style of game is for me since i enjoy group play with it being similar to ffxi, it seems much too bare bones right now for me to consider playing alpha. At least the combat sounds like its good.

Ill look more around may next year or beta but right now its just trade skills, some pvp and mob grinding? Is thats app that is in this alpha entirely or is there more later?

  10. In its current state there won't be much content at max level either. This phase is more about fixing bugs and stability. More content should start to come online during phase 2 starting in late December and then a bunch more in phase 3 in early May. I wouldn't expect it to even resemble a game until sometime during phase 3. This is why I'm not taking any time off to play until the first full week of phase 3.

  11. There is a way to get a faster mount fairly early on. I forget which YouTuber it was but someone posted a quick 4 minute guide on how to get it. You go South of Lionhold to where the wolves are, look for the ones with a white nameplate and try to tame them. You'll either get a carcass or a wolf (seems like it's roughly a 10-20% chance to get the wolf) once you get the wolf you have to find a animal husbandry station and pay 50 silver to train it to become a mount. I haven't had 50 silver yet so I haven't actually finished my mount training myself yet.

  12. I get the allure of the old days when group mandatory content was king, but times have changed. If you don’t have a solo friendly game, your game is pretty much doomed. We live in an instant gratification society where people want their time respected. New World’s changed from its original concept highlight this very notion.
