  1. "burning question" ???? lmfao…..Steven has answered this time and time again, including in this interview. Want riskless PvE content? try WoW, or any of the plethora of cookie cutter MMOs we have all been tired of since they hit the market 20 years ago. Intrepid isn't Ubisoft, they aren't making a game for "everyone" that leaves no one satisfied. This game has a target audience, and that audience is NOT PVE only players. my "burning question" is that if PVE players are so upset, why don't they go play one of the tens (maybe even hundreds?) of MMOS that directly target them? If it is because those games are boring cookie cutter treadmills rehashing the same tired shit over and over again, then why throw a fit when intrepid changes the recipe? I'm a hardcore PVPer, yet somehow against all odds I can also enjoy raiding and other PVE, and I even love crafting. you don't see PVPers crying that the PVX/PVE is ruining the game, its always the people who would be best suited playing a co op single player game than an MMO who seem to be salty about PVP

TLDR: Steven has said his main inspiration was/is archeage, you're an idiot if you thought AoC was going to be PVE focused.

  2. If green can attack red without penalty, it will 100% be abused. PVP guilds will have green squads to summon and deal with opposing red players.

I feel like when people consider corruption anti-pvp they're annoyed they cant freely gank like in the old days of WoW. Rogues and Warriors. I'm a rogue, I've been a monster, but I don't want it in ashes without very high risk.

I've been falling more and more in love with the long leveling curve and death penalties lately. After playing HardCore BG3, Diablo, Classic.. I don't like to totally loooose my prog after so many hours but I do really love the edge of survival mattering and fighting like hell in every fight to LIVE. Ashes seems like a possibly-perfect middle ground, death is punishing enough that it feels hard core without having to delete your toon.

  3. As a PVE:er I look forward to Ashes of Creation! I seriously believe this might be the first game where bots will not flood the market. Since you can kill them open in the world and they said they going to have more active GMs!

  4. I think the "it's an active choice to become red" is a cop-out, if you make being red too punishing then nobody is ever going to do it. Having it so that red can't cc green players is a absolutely atrocious idea

  5. Only true PVE' ERS will hate the PVP aspect of ashes. Since their the one's who ask for PVE servers in the 1st place. Now, are those few still going to play ashes? Probably, but they do or don't it won't make a difference

  6. My sleep schedule was off so I missed this. Woulda loved to add my pov on that entire corruption discussion. Imo it's all just about corruption removal balancing. The timer to remove corruption should just pucker the PKer's asshole, but it should also be short enough for them to remove the corruption juuuust in time for their victim to come back to the same place. And if there's other Greens in the vicinity that managed to get to you before your corruption is gone – that just means you fucked up on the preparations for your PK.

  7. the discussion about the corruption system im 100% on Kreirians side, if a green player attacks a corrupt player it makes no sence for the red to then gain even more corruption since you then end up in a spiral where you basically cant get rid of ur corruption if greens keep attacking you. its completely anti openworld PvP as someone that played a lot of NW where innitially there was a lot of openworld pvp but it completly disappeared after some months even though they kept buffing rewards for flagging, there has to be as little punishement as possible for openworld PvP even if ur turning corrupted since otherwhise over time it leads to noone participating in openworld PvP anymore and there are countless examples. there gotta be a significant insentive to PvP and as little punishement as possible on the other end if you go corrupted while still managing to be anti griefing, id rather see the amount of time or mobs you have to kill to get rid of the corruption be increased after ur first kill then have it keep stacking even though ur keep defending urself, otherwhise theres ur being disincentiviced from openworld PvP cause i guerantee you everyone is just gonna stay green overtime otherwhise

  8. If you're cocky enough to go corrupted and still think you're entitled to farm a spot safely. You should be on the run fearing for your life. System is fine, don't go corrupted if you don't want to snowball further.

  9. During the corruption talk you guys forgot about bounty hunting system. I don't know if you have to flag as a bounty hunter but reds don't gain more corruption for defending themselves from bounty hunters.
