I would say blizz knows excatly what they're doing because we are all still gona play TBC and ppl will still buy the store stuff and they will make more money. Sure the community would have been happier if they didnt include the store stuff, but that wouldnt have made them more money.

People saying Blizz is doing this and that to WoW when in reality they are just pissing on the people clinging to the idea of what WoW was more then a decade ago.
So happy for people that want this to do good and specially the devs themselves that they delayed this, blizzard has done forevre to release major patch/expansion/start beta when competition creeps up in the mmo space, this just feels like tbc coming sooner then thought, AoC delay their alpha looking at Blizz going; 'your turn'
For AoC I would like to remind people that it's an Alpha. You are expected to report bugs and contribute to the game's future. If you intent to just play the game and not do what you're supposed to then save your money for now and go play a game that's finished until AoC officially releases somewhere in 2022-2023.

I can't believe anyone actually thinks Blizzard planned their TBC release date around a small mmo alpha game. An Alpha test that not even open to all players I backed this game for $200+ and I don't get an invite. To anyone with half a brain this is most likely to coincide with ESO expansion to some degree, internal juggling with Shadowlands patch 9.1 release. The biggest reason though, they couldn't hold it back any longer.
Actiblizz needs a big Q2 release to drive player engagement and spending. June is literally the last month in Q2 they can release something to hit those Q2 targets. That's the reason TBC is coming out June.
I suspect Blizzard was hoping 9.1 might be shippable by June to drive those numbers, but with it not being they've decided to kick TBC out the door instead.

People thinking that Blizzard did June 1st for TBC to block AoC are clowns…. AoC needs 3-4 more years of development, this Alpha One will be a mess as most alphas and people here have high expectations that will be crushed with reality. And I am almost 100% sure AoC team will do another push since there is July 20th Beta for New World. I am sorry guys, but AoC is not some kind of god sent gift. The June 1st date is more shady for ESO since they are launching new expac and you simply try to avoid lauching your product with competing one on the same date, no matter if it is a games, movies, music (albums).
Imagine paying $350 to alpha test a shitty scam game and it gets delayed after multiple years of development. Lmaoo everyone who paid for that alpha is a moron whose opinion on anything gaming related doesn't matter.

This is literally how Activision operates… They've weaponised the release of TBC to stomp on the alpha release of Ashes so they can maintain the monopoly. This isn't about the players anymore it is purely just scumbag business tactics to ensure there is no other option than wow.

WoW have waaaay too much weight on MMORPG market. There is no any chance any company at any size or form to beat WoW. NO CHANCE. AoC will die an year, at max, after official launch.

Guys. The combat in Ashes is awful. The game looks pretty but there doesn't appear to be any real substance behind it. It will fail.
The problem with Blizzard is that most of the talented, passionate and smart people have long since left the company, and were replaced with those who are ready to put up with investor demands, Activision BS and management policies, etc.
Those people are not total garbage, but they are mediocre at best. It's like giving an F1 racing car to a person who's been driving a normal vehicle all their lives and expect them to do well. They can DRIVE, they can make turns, they are able not to crash into a wall… but they can't for the life of them win the race.
They don't have the vision to see the consequences of their actions, and they don't really care. Their entire thing is following the formula, studying engagement metrics – and basing their decisions around those. So even though Classic was a success – the whatever data that made them underestimate it in the first place is now making them underestimate TBC, and they're literally too blind, uptight and scared to look past their excel tables to understand that they're making huge mistakes by treating it as a B-rated product.
I was actually one of those people who thought Classic would fail. But yeah, reality proved me wrong, and in this sphere you have to take an L sometimes. I was wrong. And I'm not gonna be the guy to underestimate TBC, because it my eyes it has the same "flaws" as Classic, but it does a lot of the things MUCH better. And seeing that those "flaws" didn't stop so many people to be happily playing – I expect TBC to only do better yet.
Wild star. Could gave been great if they didnt pull the plug so early and improved upon it. Hope ashes does not make the same mistake(more hyped for new world though).
I fully agree that the success of classic wow was obvious to underestimate the potential of the game is beyond negligent for whoever is gathering that data all you would have to do is look into the number of active players in the private servers see how long the servers have been going on and look at the average of active players through that time and you get a pretty good idea of the demand of active players for classic wow. Seeing that the private servers have been live for a very long time with active player bases shows the demand for the content. to not have seen this even during the, "you think you do but you don't" comment is an incredible demonstration of the Ivory tower effect.

They know exactly what they're doing, it's just that it benefits them and not you/the players. Don't think for a second that they don't have a world class data science team. They have calculated their expected character boost revenues and both launch dates and see the benefit of launching early. Even when you subtract the amount of revenue lost to churn as a result of players disliking the pricing and the urgency it's well worth it from their perspective. It's will increase their Q2 revenue, gg.
These guys are literally gonna refund people if they are sad about missing the test when it was supposed to happen. This company is legendary already. I cannot wait to play this game.

Man, as a software engineer I can tell you 30% padding is unrealistic. If you think something takes a week to do, schedule 3 weeks. Hopefully by the end of the 4th week its nearly done.
