Well.
There is so much hype for a reason, and that reason is player are getting tired of the same stuff for the last 20 years.
Jay, please tell me your gonna be on eu servers!! Narc has abandoned us, also are you gonna run a guild?
Yes hype will hurt the game but it's on Steven mostly for the direction he is taking the game. I am skeptical the complexity of what he desires comes together for a good launch experience. I also don't see how the sweats won't just ruin it by abusing the systems around nodes, guild, and PvP. Steven seems to be stuck on ideas from a long gone online gaming time. Those ideas are gone because the market is way more competitive. Bad ideas don't get a pass just because it's online like they did years ago when being online was the main attraction
Wil def give it a sniff as well
Alpha Two will suck. Any other expectation is ludicrous. Even your moderate expectations are too high. My advice (as a dedicated, well informed, member of a big established guild, follower of the game since 2017) to everyone that is not a core follower of the game — meaning that you found it in the last two years and haven't exclusively focused on it at least since Alpha One — Don't buy in, don't try to play, just watch your favorite streamer struggle with bugs, crashes, and exploits on Twitch. You'll enjoy that a lot more.
Cool!
The game just doesnt look good, artistically, gameplay wise, the features implemented.
I agree but sadly Steven spent last 3 years hyping up the alpha 2 and last 6 months of back pedaling wont undo the years of "damage". And while I think its completely fair for CCs to help temper those expectations, the wider hyped audience with unrealistic expectations arent those who watch ashes content on weekly basis so its down to Steven on August 16th (and hopefully big CC reactions lol) to bring everyone down and finally tell us WHAT TO EXPECT! 😀
I still cant stomach the artstyle and the over saturated colours
As someone who played A1 trust me you didnt miss anything. A1 was maybe 5% of what A2 is supposed to be.
It may, but the biggest enemy of any MMO is the big streamers. I hope they separate them in their own servers and let the rest of the people play on normal servers. Streamers can manipulate people's reaction and action towards a product in a huge and many different ways.
The game isnt very appealing to the eyes. They should have went with a different art style.

I expect it to be a full fledged game with <huff huff>10 years of DLC that <huff huff> meets my every expectation.
Having worked in IT for decades, people hear what they want to hear, and half of them are total idiots about software engineering. and don't get me started about hardware ignorance.
There's also a disconnect between you and remembering 15M people played WoW, and are still out there waiting for a game worth making time to play. Ashes looks like that game to Millions of players.
all the ppl hating on game are just boring ass WoW player who are stuck in their loophole for 15 years telling themselves their game is beetter than everything else i wonder why ppl rather play FF14 peetty much a solo game over WoW these days..
I disagree, most people wont get to try alpha 2 because only the cashed up can play
Will be treated as full release because alpha cost twice as much as the full game
not releasing will hurt AoC the most
Honestly, almost 10 years to develop. What pressure beyond, Put Out a Playable Game. After that, the Pressure will be is it any good or will it be mired with bugs and goofball mechanics. He is planning expansions and content…..Right?
