Asmongold checks out the April 2021 DEV UPDATE for Ashes of Creation, including an extended look at the first Raid Bosses gameplay.
Ashes is a MMORPG which takes place within a medieval fantasy setting, blending imagination with cutting-edge graphics. Ashes of Creation will incorporate the best parts of traditional MMORPGs with innovative sandbox concepts. The first trailer of the game was released in 2019 and it is planned to be playable, at least in an alpha/beta format, in 2021…

  1. I seriously dont expect much from AoC. Its visually stunning, but all I want from MMOs are proper dungeons and raids. This just reminds me of Guild Wars 2. Has its moments, but wont keep me motivated long enough.

  3. How about the GW2 open world Dragon bosses? If the game would get a DirectX12 upgrade it would be so awesome. For its time back in 2012 those fights were so epic!

  4. While the graphic of that dragon is really nice, the movement on the other hand look kind of stiff?
    Like how after he does an attack he kind of reset to the exact same position then before the attack, and since the graphic are on a completely different level then WoW it's even more noticeable!

    Or maybe it's just me who played over 1200 hours of Monster Hunter World who's just picky!

  5. I dislike that still in 2021 the bosses don't do damage except if the appropiate spell or attack is being cast, when the dragon moves around, why doesn't the tail hurt players if they are in the way?, but it does during Tail swipe, that's just bad design i wished they moved past it.

  6. tbh it looks pretty good, i wasn't a big fan of the combat up until now cuz we've only seen them fight bears and very unfinished bosses
    but this is definitely a big step in the right direction

  8. lol these animations are never going to change. What he doesnt understand is that these animations only look "bad" because they dont blend together at all. Which would require a massive upgrade to the animation system, they would have to entirely rewrite that thing. It's not going to change, if you think it looks shit today then it will look shit on release. Guaranteed. Also, fine tuning animations is a lot of work by itself. What would you rather have, a new animation for a different dragon or one of the animators spending days to fine tune some existing animations.

  9. ESO has great dragon WBs, they'll fly around and perch on buildings or rocks for a ranged only damage phase, and they'll scorch half the arena with a dot, alot more dynamic than most mmo WBs

  10. I know it’s small, but I like the flight animation of the mount. When he was cruising the wings would just hold position and flap infrequently. And when he went down to the ground, the wings swept back for aerodynamics.

  11. So many 3head complaining andys about animations and graphics…99% have literally NO clue how much work it is to make and polish a mmo , and this is Alpha stage 1…smh complaining about that stuff at this stage just makes you look stupid.

  12. Lol Wow players complaining about how it looks (Also alpha btw), while Wow is extremely simple in its style and has plenty of scuffed animations with its outdated engine and models

  13. So last time i thought that the skills look meh at best and armor looks like the one in elder scrolls (glued together shit that has no "dimension" to it).
    The armors in this video are looking good, the combat numbers still looks like shit – msword 2000 edition wants its WordArt back, as for skills we havent seen a lot of player skills but the dragon ones were meh (pink fairy balls from a dragon). When a dragon attacks each time it stomps there should be rocks flying everywhere and overall it should feel more "impactfull". And dragons have the same models only different colors.

  14. Imagine having to compare any mmo you look at, too wow… Branch out bro, i played eqoa years ago, that was a blast for ps2. hell even guild wars 2 has tons of amazing shit to see in it.

  15. I don't like the direction of the UI, reminds me of the old generic 2013 MMO UI every random cashgrab MMO had. I hope they have plans to change it to a more modern design.

  16. Am I the only one who dislikes the camera angle/situation? It's like an in-between of Souls-like and WoW (or Remnant and random MMO,) and I can't help but want to push his character to the side for an over-the-shoulder view.

  17. I like it… Just feel like they dragons need more phases and abilities that make them harder to fight as they get lower health. Like a desperate animal being backed into a corner and going wild.

  18. jezz the Chat changes more then the game from alpha – beta.. all is trash until Asmon says its cool.. then its truuue truuue true.. either its small kids in chat or plain apes. this games looks good for its state, and im glad that a studio is trying to make one "dream" mmo, even if it fails, it cant be denied its great we still have companys making MMOs because lets be honest, its not the most profit genre anymore.
