  1. Do you think Ashes of Creations testers will turn a blind eye to things that could potentially hurt the game because they are full of hype? Does paying to test a game affect the overall quality of the tester?

  2. I bought the Alpha 2 key knowing full well that this might not be my type of game. I come from EQ2 and know that AOC is not going to be the same nor do I want to turn it into another EQ2. I have so far stayed away from any news with only watching narcs recaps and opionions so i can reserve my judgement while still staying somewhat in the loop.

I hope the game will be good and will offer my views if I see something I don't like but so far we haver to wait and see how the many game systems work out in live testing to really see what's good or not.

  3. A few points: The 100K number does not include the, as yet, unannounced number of pre-order pack purchases after the announcement last year (Mar?), so the number can be considerably — easily within the tens of thousands — higher. (My guess, at least 200k). "Feed back" does not equal "veto power. The design of AoC is (since JB left) a one man show, and while a consensus amongst players might sway minor changes in details or implementation, it won't make any significant difference in the basic "design pillars" of the game. And, in point of fact, that theoretical community consensus has yet to appear and may never actually coalesce. Any A2 ticket holder who does not have a "software tester" mindset whereby their single fundamental goal is to find and report bugs, provide detailed and specific reports of problems, and slavishly repeat activities to generate data, rather than a "player" mindset will not provide productive input to the actual in-the-trenches programmers who will fix the code.

  4. I would assume that those who are heavily invested will want the best game possible, even trying to form the game to personal preferences. So, expect to see more critical feedback than a rose colored one.

  5. I hope people give constructive criticism but also I dont want Intrepid to change how they want the game to be. Aoc will let down some people either be action combat lovers or anyone else really so . I just hope they fix bugs if the systems need some adjustment do it but do not change the game because it is not your childhood memory mmo.

  6. I bought into the Alpha 2, and personally, if there are issues with the game, I'm going to be much more likely to give critical feedback and much more robust in that feedback. People paying that much typically (I'd assume) are more invested in the game doing well. And if there are problems the logical thing would be to solve those before the full launch, so that the game can be successful, not to bury your head in the sand and pretend nothing is wrong as the MMO cycle of the last 2 decades repeats.

  7. I bought into A2 years ago now because I thought if it gets to that point that's the most important testing phase for such a huge project.
People need to temper their expectations for Alpha 2, this is going to be buggy and it's a critical phase for testing for the company. Prepare yourselfs for wipes and broken shite 🙂 I've from a softdev background, I think I'll have spreadsheets of bugs I'm submitting 🙂
I'm not going to be 'playing' an early release.

  8. I am not an ashes of creation alpha tester. I have not signed any kind of NDA. I have not received any email from Intrepid regarding alpha 2 spot testing. Any evidence to the contrary is either forged or circumstantial.

  9. I can tell you this game has numerous things that need fixed i.e. the mobs having varying move sets rather than two mage types casting the same spell at the exact same time looking like a mirror as in the footage you just showed. As for 'Choice-supportive bias' clearly anyone dropping a bag for the game are going to overlook any of the issues and constantly try to justify their purchase. Unless you are someone with self awareness, I don't believe this type of bias can change, the most we can hope for is within that large pool of people, enough can provide proper feedback so we can all get the best end product.

  10. to be fair, there is plenty of things i can say will probb need redesign. Combat needs some work, lighting sucks, most spell effects sucks (luckly they are fixing it now), caravan attackers have no risk and this system will probb needs a rework in a2, just to name a few. That being said lucky ghost approach was retarded at this core and he just wanted to get some buck by creating drama and shitting on aoc and its devs
